Open houses

DH and I are gonna start house hunting - we just got preapproved yesterday. Well DH wants me to go to some open houses this weekend by myself since he's working. I'm kinda nervous to go to my first open house by myself though.

Any advice? Does the realtor show you around the house or do you look around on your own? What kinds of questions will the realtor ask me? What questions should I ask the realtor??

I was sooo nervous too that I never went to one... The first one I went to was a few months back when my parents were looking... It seems all so silly now to be so nervous.... There isnt any high pressure to buy that same day.... The REA is there to show you around... talk about the house... get some info on you like how soon you plan to buy, if you can close right away, etc... DH & I purposely just go to open houses in our development now just to get decorating ideas

Ask the REA how old everything is... water heater, CAC, etc ... Thats one mistake we made... We bought a condo so we didnt have to ask much about the outside of the house (roof- has it ever been replaced etc)

You will just be asked to sign in with your name and phone number. Most likely you will walk around by yourself but some open houses we went to, the realtor talked about the house a little.
No pressure.. its fun!

Sometimes they bring you around sometimes u look on your own.

Definitely ask about the roof windows & if it is oil or gas & how old are the tanks (oil water etc)?? etc. Ask if the sellers are motivated & if there is wiggle room in price. If you do nto see wood floors ask if wood is under carpet or flooring.

They will have you sign in & sign a document. No worries its ok. They will ask if you are working with a broker. Answer honestly.

Othet then that good luck! Have fun. Remember dont settle. Get what you want. Even if it means having to wait.

lol 1st time i went my dad told me to turn the water on in the bathroom haha so i did.....haha it works and still works today!

it might sound silly to you, but as someone that DIDN'T do this for our duplex (we're renting), we've had some major water pressure problems. Turning on water to check the pressure is a must!
