opnion on something..

how do you feel about defriending someone on fb...yea i know its only fb but when u go to write on someones wall and u see they defriended u do u get insulted?

i know some people 'clean' out their friends but what if it was someone who is friends with ur friends..

I think it depends on whether or not you have ever had a friendship with them in real life..meaning have you ever hung out and had conversations? Have you shared part of your life with them in the same circles? Its all very subjective.

I have had ppl de-friend me and I haven't taken it personally because I know that there are plenty of ppl that I would like to de-friend but haven't since I might run into them face to face and I wouldn't want to hurt their feelings.

Then, there are those that I have actually de-friended but that is only because they are ppl from high school that I don't really remember and they were being kind of creepy with the constant fb IMs.

So, I guess my point is that it truly depends upon the individual circumstance.

ITA. If it was someone I was actually close to, even if it was years ago, I'd probably be hurt if they de-friended me. If it wasn't someone I was close to at one point, I'd probably never know!

I don't bother defriending people ... I think it's silly. And it causes unnecessary drama. If I don't want to be friends with someone ... then I just ignore them. I am actually still friends with someone on FB who I had a HUGE falling out with 5 years ago and haven't spoken to since!

Though this all reminds me of someone who defriended a whole lot of us a few months ago ... for reasons still unknown to most!

That's what went through my mind too. I actually escaped that for a while, but curiosity got the better of me and I just checked, and yes, defriended.

But to go back to the question at hand, I saw I was defriended from a few people, and the ones that piss me off are the ones that request ME, then go and delete me a few months later. Why even bother in the first place? Or the ones that I never really did anything to to offend, so I just kinda go huh?

Yes - I don't even notice when people defriend me usually - unless it's someone I still talk to! Like what Ali and I referenced above ...

And I would be so sad if Gina deleted me ... who would 'like' all of my stupid, embarrassing photos then???

I got de-friended by one of my close friends right after she informed my other friend she would not be attending my bachelorette party. I didn't even know we were not friends anymore.

Another time I got de-friended by my friend's gf.

Both times I was insulted.


When its someone I am not really connected to I do not get insulted. I really need to clean out mine. I am friends with to many people from HS because of planning our reunion and I really don't feel like these people need to see my life in detail.

Well I defriended my MOH, her husband & a close friend of theirs a few months after the wedding - but Ive told you the whole story about my MOH so I am sure you can understand why I didnt want her knowing anymore of my business...selfish & mean-spirited biotch.


ETA: but when it comes to YOU my dearest Gina - even if you removed me, Id come find you! LOVE YOU!

I dont give a sh!t either way. I have enough real life friends that I don't get mad if my FB friends delete me! Esp the high school ones I haven't spoken to in 12 years--yeah i know I'm old balls.
