DH and I are opposites politically...makes for some interesting debates now that it's election season. Anyone else in the same boat?

DH and I agree on our choices politically but I once dated someone who was at the other end of the spectrum...it was interesting because you get to see the other side of the issues, but frustrating too sometimes We eventually agreed to disagree about certain things!

we were when we first started dating, but for this election we are not. our first real fight was 2 years into our relationship when i had a freak-out about the election results and the fact that DH voted for X when I voted for Y.
After years of 'discussing' DH now shares my view on gay marriage (which I feel extremely passionate about) and will be voting with me in the upcoming election for the same reasons as me. I prefer being on the same page, but know what it's like to be opposite as well.
When I was in HS I dated a guy who didn't believe in evolution, while I strongly believed in science. We would debate and agree to disagree.

We are opposite politically in that he doesn't believe in voting and I do. He tells me that my vote doesn't count at least once a day.
I try to keep him informed and bring up different issues when they come up but he has ZERO interest and it is frustrating.

He is a small business owner so ANYTHING having to do with economic policies I email to him - I doubt he reads them though. I am such a dork that I even make sure that I am not biased in what I email him LOL

yeah we definitely disagree on quite a few issues. Religion and other matters we have the same views but politics we disagree alot, some matters we do agree. I like having debates, i dont think theres anything wrong with it. But Dh gets so upset and says we just shouldn't talk politics. I dont understand why we cant just agree to disagree, nothing wrong with that. Its perfectly fine with me that he has different views, i dont think everyone needs to feel the same way i do. I respect him for his views. I think debates can turn ugly when others just cant understand how anyone would feel differently than they do, once people get over that small fact then debates are great

OMG dh doesnt vote either, and the funny thing is that he'll talk about politics but then in the end i just say 'you don't even vote so shut up' lol. I am gonna try to get him to vote this year. He thinks its pointless too. He is very informed but just thinks his vote wont really matter

Same here - we have gotten into NUMEROUS arguments about it, I find it so irritating that he doesn't care at all!
