Is there anything I can take over the counter for UTI??? I really don't want to have to go to the doctor in this weather, and I also can't leave early from work to go to her. I am prone to UTI's and I know there is a test you can take at home now, but I don't know if they sell any sort of medication for it over the counter.
I have gotten med from her in the past for it, can I call and just ask her to call in another prescription for me? Should doctors be able to do that, or do they need to have me come in for sure for a urinalysis?

Your doctor will probably call it in for you if you have already been there and been diagnosed with a UTI in the past.
There is nothing over the counter that can get rid of it - AZO helps with the burning a bit.
But don't wait too long, the infection can spread to your bladder and kidney if you put it off. Feel better, those are the worst!

depends how serious the condition is...if it is just the start & not all that bad Uristat works great. I've used it a couple times... be forewarned though - u will pee NEON ORANGE

I think I may just pick it up. My back has been hurting, so I think it may be too far past the stage of uristat. I will call the doc and also ask if she can phone it in for me!

If you have had them before, the doc should call it in. But if it doesn't go away when you take the meds, go in and see her. They *may* make you come in though ....

LOL i know it's not normal it's just what the medication does - u will be shocked...ur pee will look like neon oil untill it's flushed ur system BUT - it works...especially with relief. If it's really bad call ur doctor..to me anything over the counter is more to hold u over & for temporary relief untill u can actually get to a doctor. but it does work. it's kicked out many potential uti's for me

i agree with everyone else- I get UTIs frequently- so they just ask me to do the otc test and then call in a prescription for me- try that first- the other over the counter stuff is only good until you can get into the doctor.

Not to be a pest or sound like a mommy, but if I were you I really wouldn't wait until Monday, especially if your back is hurting I had one spread to my kidneys once because I put if off all weekend - I would call your doctor today, but that is JMO

Agh, I just called and my doctor isn't in, but the assistant is. She can't write me a prescription can she??? I will see if I can get in there tomorrow perhaps.
