Pains of the SSA

Pains of the SSA

OMG, 4 HOURS LATER I am finnaly out of that office. It was so bad.

And the woman would not let me make my name
Lisa Old Last Name New last Name

Instead I am
Lisa Rachel Old Last Name New last Name

But at least there is no hyphen.

I tried to change my stuff at the bank but they would not let me do it without an updated drivers license, which i just did not have the patience for today.

I am exhausted.

They are really strange - I think every single person over there has their own rules for what is and is not acceptable.

But really, why on earth would you want to drop the Rachel from your name?????

That's weird. My banks let me change all of my info. w/ copies of my marriage certificate. I did that all before I got my new license. It took me about 10 minutes to take care of everything at SSA in Melville.

When I called my bank back in August they said, oh just bring us your marriage license and SS card with your new name and we can change it. So, I went there thinking I had all the right info and could accomplish it, but I was told that since I wanted to be able to take out money they would need my id and it would have to match my driver's license.

See we need to make a huge withdrawal for our closing this Friday. So it was really complicated. I loath my bank and once we move I am going to get rid of it and bank elsewhere.

I am not going to get a new NY license since we are moving out of state. I will just get a new dl in the new state.
It is all a lot of minor annoyances.
