Paris anyone?

Hi everyone -
My girlfriend and I are planning a long weekend in Paris during mid-January (she is going away to the Peace Corp in February for 2 years so it should be a good send-off ). We are on a budget and trying to find a decent place to stay in the city. Any suggestions on hotels or maybe a good website for info?
Thanks!!

Re: Paris anyone?

I LOVE PARIS...it is my favorite city in the world!!!!

if you can get into Henri IV...try to do that...its cheap yet fabulous!!!

Address 25 place Dauphine

Location 1st Arrondissement (Musée Du Louvre/Les Halles)

Transportation Métro: Pont Neuf

Phone 01-43-54-44-53

Room Information 20 units, 6 with shower only

Prices 29€-35€ ($26-$31) double without shower; 42€-45€ ($37-$40) double with shower; 55€-69€ ($49-$62) double with complete bathroom. Rates include breakfast

Credit Cards Not Accepted

In Room Amenities No phone

also pick up Frommers Europe on a Budget (or France on a budget - if they have) - most people don't carry this one around...they use Lets Go - so many of the inexpensive places in Frommers are still available when you get there...most of the ones from Lets Go are booked...although in Feb shouldn't be as bad...

Re: Paris anyone?

We went to Paris, France for our HM late August 2002 until early September 2002. It was great spending it together as newly weds in the City of Light! It was very romantic.

Re: Paris anyone?

Paris is awesome, get ready to eat and shop the entire time you're there. Bc I love Paris so much, we went for my bachlorette party in September. We stayed at the Hotel du Louvre, in the Opera section. It was centrally located and 1/2 block from the Metro stop L'Opera. Double was about $140 including breakfast. The place was clean, the sheets were not 600 thread-count but not thin or old, they had cable tv, phone and internet access also.

I've also stayed at the Comfort Inn in the 16th arrondisment. It is more off the beaten path, off a cobblestone street, 3 blocks from metro but on weekends, the street is lined with a farmer's market.

FYI, all the shops are closed on Sunday, so do all your shopping before then. The flea markets are the only game in town on a Sunday.

Have fun, and don't forget to get a crepe!

Re: Paris anyone?

Thank you all for the info!!
We have to reschedule our trip - My friend is getting deployed to Uzbekistan (spelling?) earlier than she originally thought but now we are planning a trip there in March for my birthday. I will definitely look into all your suggestions.
Thanks again!
