passport name change ??????

Ok, I just came from the post office to try and change my name, but the guy told me that there is a 'new rule' - If it is after 1 year since the passport was ISSUED (NOT 1 year since youve been married!), then you have to apply for a whole new passport.

I thought you could just change your name without having to get a whole new one.
I knew I would have to send my old one away along with the marr. lisence, but not get a whole NEW one.

I looked it up for myself. If you got your passport within one year from getting married, you get a name change free of charge. You still have to send in your marriage license and new photos (yay, cause I hate mine).

But if you've had your license for a while and get married, you have to go get a new one.

UGH! everytime I see a post about this it reminds me how little time I have left to do this while it's still free!

I i went to the site
you need to send in our old passport, marrige license and fee - you also need to include 2 pics

then they send you your new passport in the mail

*your old one must have been issued in the past 15 years
