I am not sure, but in this day & age I would get it switched.

if you have some t ime, DEFINITELY get it changed. especially with the high terror alert level right now, everyone at the airport is anal and i don't think you want to risk that.

Getting it switched is safest but the last I travelled I used my maiden name on the tickets since that is the name my passport was still in. But I didn't go overseas (Mexico and CA).

I just asked my FH who is TSA and he said it all has to be changed.

Your passport needs to match the name on your tickets as well as your ID.

Switch your passport to your married name

If you have any other questions please feel free to FM me

PS....you're going to be going through FI's terminal checkpoint so if you have any questions or concerns definatly feel free to FM me

Re: Passport Question...

If your passport is in your maidan name right now...I would just book the tickets in my maidan name...

you have always had to travel with tickets matching your name in your passport (I worked for an international airline for 4 years checking passports)

it may even be easier to do your maidan name...b/c they do not give you a new passport...they just make a note of it in the back...

if your tickets are in your maidan name then it matches up right away...and when you enter a foreign country...they may not be as familiar with US passports as US INS

Re: Passport Question...

You can travel with a passport with your maiden name as long as the ticket is also in your maiden name. (I just traveled in Dec. and Jan. using my maiden name IDs since my ticket was in my maiden name which I had purchased prior to me doing the my name change).

You might want to bring along another form of official ID (e.g. driver's license) that has your married name to verify you other things (e.g. credit card).

I've switched some of my credit cards to my married name but still have some in my maiden name so I carry my old and new driver's license just in case until I change everything.

Re: Passport Question...

As long as your tickets are in your maiden name you can use your current passport. When you do change it , all they do is put a notation in the back of the booklet.

Re: Passport Question...

ironically i just printed out the papers to change my name this afternoon! I figure do it now and renew it (its due up nxt year anyway) so I don't have to worry when/if we decide to go to europe in a heartbeat!

I didn't change my license right away and had problems flying with my maiden name/documents just within the county a few months ago.

Re: Passport Question...

make sure your ticket has your maiden name on it...then you can travel with it. otherwise, I think you have to bring your marriage license with you.
