I went to the post office today to finally renew & change my name. It's the last of the paper work that I need to do thankfully.
I had to mail in my original marriage certificate which made me a bit nervous. They said they would mail it back. Did you have to do this too?

Not to worry, you'll get it back. I had to mail my original marriage license and my husband had to mail his original birth certificate. We got them back with the passport about 4 weeks later.
I haven't changed mine...since it will be expired in less than one year...but to get it in the first place you have to mail your BC...they deal with original docs all the time...and anyway...if they do lose it (which they won't) you can get another one very easy
