People who work in a hospital...

When I was in college I had a job wher my title was 'Patient Sitter'.

I basically showed up and made sure that people who were high-risk didn't get out of bed and try to escape. A lot of times they were people who tried to hurt themselves or wouldn't stop messing with their tubes/wires etc.

If you're a nurse/doctor/etc -- does where you work have a position like this? If so, what are they called where you work?

I used to work for a medical answering service. PCA's (Patient Care Aide) were typically hired for positions like this.

yea generally they are nurse's aides who just 'watch' the patients

we also have 'patient care liason's'

they are kind of like a salesperson you would see on the floor at a retail shop...they just stand around and help people-- if they need water, blankets, information or if a patient needs to be watched they will help with that also.

we have them at our hosptial. they are through an agency!
sometimes when the hospital is short, the aides get stuck doing it, I HATE IT!

My hospital calls them one to one's. They are agency hired. They sit with one patient for safety reasons in 12 hr shifts. If the patient is bed ridden, they also wash the patient when needed.
