Phone calls - what's too early & what's too late? (poll)

Phone calls - what's too early & what's too late? (poll)

Growing up, my mother always set a no phone call before 9 after 9 rule.

Nowadays tho, my time time is 10:00. I never call anybody before 10am or after 10pm unless it's an emergency. And I get so mad when people don't follow this rule when calling ME. lol. (unless it's one of my sisters tho, we call at all ungodly hours & never care)

Do you have a specific time that phone calls just become rude?

i pretty much agree with your time frame. though as long as i'm up, 9 am is ok, but i would rather it be later! my sister calls me all hours of the night sometimes, usually not in her right frame of mind!

Usually, any time after 8am is fine. Especially if it's a friend. But, if it's a telemarketer..calling at any time really, I hate it!

Like this AM, I got a call at 10 am from a charity telemarketer has been calling me nonstop for donations. I was still sleeping, rare!, but its the weekend. Its an unknown # and I only answer b/c that's how ILs # comes up.

I'm on the damn do not call list!!

If its a friend, they can call until like 10. I used to have a friend who called me at like 11 or 12 and woke me up all the time

If you've given this charity donations in the past, they are exempt from the do not call registry list.

I voted 10am - 10pm..... My one friend calls at all hours of the night, and I have to pick up the phone or she'll just keep calling LOL!

DH and I honestly keep our phone on 'RINGER OFF', we have Optimum Voice and the caller ID shows up on our TV screen. Only problem...DH playing a video game and me reading, or the TV is off and DH is reading and I am reading.

In general..............No matter what time it is and we are watching TV and a number that we know pops up, we will answer it. If we don't know it, there is no shot in h e l l.

When we first got engaged and we were solicited left right and sideways................we would get calls starting at 7:30am during week days.

Our rule...You call at 7:30am...........
A) you leave a message, we will call you back, talk to you and hear you out.
B) You call and don't leave a message, then call every 8 mins for the next 3 hours and don't leave a message, you will get a call back (most likely from DH at like 2am) and it will say that we do not want your services and please stop calling.

Please FM me for those who refused to stop calling!!! I have 2 DJ's and 2 Limo companies who were relentless!!!!~

I definitely agree with the 10 pm thing. But I will let it slide if it's on the weekend or a friday night b/c I am up late and don't have to work the next day.

I think that 10 am is also a good time for morning phone calls. Most people work 9-5 , so I figured if I called someone by 10 they would be up and out and going already. :)

As I have said before though, no one really calls me anyway lol so if someone called me late at night, it would probably be b/c there was an emergency, or they were drunk dialing and that rarely happens.

i dont have a time for too early or too late. Well maybe too early on weekends lol but if its important its fine. If im sleeping doesn't matter bc I won't answer.

It's funny bc recently somebody called DH after 10pm, he said 'who is calling me after 10' and it was his own mom, but dont know where that came from. He has one friend who will call him at like 11-midnight. I dont care bc its his cell phone. For me the cut off time i guess is 11:30 on weekdays and weekends anytime is fine lol.

on a weekend, do not call me before 10am. And don't call my apartment after 10 unless you know Im awake. I hate when people call us at like 6:30am. I get so mad cus my alarm goes off at 7. I hate when my sleep is inturrupted. LOL.

I would not call anyone before 10am unless I know they are awake. I call my best friend early because she is the only other person I know is awake like me. We always do this. Also I would not call anyone after 9pm at home, even my parents. When the phone rings early or late I always panic thinking someone is in the hospital or something bad happened.

lol. that happens with us also. Like if the phone rings anytime after 9:30 I'll be like 'who's calling at this ungodly hour?' and it's usually DH's mom or one of my sisters. haha.

This question actually derived from some weirdo calling me at midnight one evening. I was like Who does that??? It would have to be either a good friend or an emergency to do that. I was hoping I wasn't the only one who would consider this rude & STRANGE!

I don't like calls before 9am or after 8pm - I can tell you when I worked in a certain hospital and our shifts ran starting at 7:30am if they had lots of call ins they would start calling us at 5am to see if they could get coverage... which was TERRIBLE.. esp for everyone else in my house at the time..

Weekends after 10...weeknights as late as 11ish, I go to bed early lol. I don't really mind though if I cant talk I dont pick up simple as that.

It depends on whether it's the weekend or a weekday....on weekends I don't call anyone before 10-11 AM (bec I am not up then lol) and I also wont' pick up the phone before I am awake. Either Dh takes the call or it does not get answered....! I need my sleep But I don't mind a late night phone call till 11 or so any night of the week since we are up late. As far as calling other ppl I wouldn't call anyone after 9-9:30 any night bec I'm not sure if they are up or not. I know how it feels to be awakened and I don't want to do it to anyone else lol
