So DH and i would love to buy an album from our photogrpaher, but we really can't afford it right now. So Im going to make them for me, my mom, and my mother in law. Of all the album making sites, which do people prefer? I've made some small albums on shutterfly, kodak gallery, and mypublisher. They ahve all been fine. But I wanted to see what people thought about the quality of the different places, and if anyone knows of another program or site.
Thanks girls!!!!

Re: photo albums
I personally LOVE mypublisher I got books made for my Niece's first birthday and gave one to my parents and to her parents. Out of the books that they've gotten they said they liked those best, and that's BEFORE they added all the new layouts.

Thanks Hayley, you're too funny. I am making you my ad manager
I like Picaboo because its the easiest interface by FAR to use. I have used them all and there are plenty of good ones but Picaboo is good AND easy so its the bast of both worlds. I have coupon codes for buy one get the same book fere and for new customers, first book is 50% off.
Quality photobooks is easy to use but I have not printed form them yet so I can't say whether their quality is as good as the others.
Blurbbooks is pretty easy once their software stops being a PITA and affordable.
Shutterfly is pretty good but pricey in my opinion for what you're getting-Picaboo can do the same covers for cheaper BUT shutterfly has a larger format (12x12 as opposed to 8.5x11)
Snapfish's interface is the worst as far as I am concerned. It is the biggest PITA! it has a share feature like the others but its not user friendly. And when you try to upload and import PS created layouts like I do, it 'eats' the middle and munches the dimensions even though I create it TO their dimensions. STINKS! BUT to be fair their paper quality is AWESOME.
MyPublisher is fine as long as you're using their layouts or very simple ones. When I import from photoshop, it 'munches' them as well and I was not impressed with their quality but my MIL and parents thought it was fine. Their customer service in my experience STINKS. Picaboo has the BEST service but Snapfish (those stinkers) has the best guarantee-110%. if you're unhappy for ANY reason, they will reprint the book for you at no charge OR refund your money and give you an extra 10%on your next purchase. LOVED that.
Kodak Gallery is good as well-again pricey for what you're getting IMO.
Essentially if you're not using photoshop layouts and importing them, then all the companies are about the same.
My faves are:
1. PICABOO 2. Quality Photoworks 3. Blurb.com (#3 only because sometimesthier software is a PITA)
It really depends on the style you want, the cover, the size, etc. FM me if you have any questions Gina.

Definitely hire Jen (Peteysbride). I did and it was the best decision. Her layouts were great. I am still waiting for my album to come in the mail but I am sure it will be fabulous. Jen used Shutterfly for me because I wanted the 12x12 book with pictures on the back and front cover. I posted last week a few sample of Jen's pages.

Hopefully today, the ones I made for the parents I ordered the same day and they were all shipped on the same day. I want it to come fast so that is why it is taking longer!!!

I would totally hire you except I enjoy making them! But Ive only used the ones I stated above. I just love taking the time to go through the pictures and everything and laying them out to tell the story.

I understand that. I am the option for women who DON't like laying them or..or who just like their hair and want to avoid pulling it out If you're doing simple layouts though you should be fine.
I build everything in Photoshop and do the faded backgrounds and that type of more modern book which some people like but have a hard time with themselves.
My SIL's partner who is a photographer, likes simple layouts. many photographers do because they highlight really good photographs. All a matter of preference.

I do like the ones where there is a photo across the two pages and some photos over it. Is that a photoshop thing? Cus that I couldnt do if it wasn't built into the program....

Re: photo albums
Well its a matter of cutting a photo in half ina program and putting the left side on the left, the right half on the right. Itrs easier in Photoshop but you can do it in another photogrpam if you have it.

I downloaded picaboo and it seems like it will be fine for me. If I want to get fancier after I make it then I'll let you know!! I dont have photoshop so it might be neccessary! The program seems similar to mypublisher, but faster. But I havn't used mypublisher in awhile. Thank you for reccommending it!!!!
