Photographer question

Photographer question

Is this normal- my photographer is changing picture websites (going from pictage.com to another one) and she said that all of my pictures and albums need to be complete by January 2nd, otherwise she will charge me $99 a month until its done.

I got the link to the pictures on 11/5 and I have not received my proof book yet- its set to come this week- so that gives me like less than 2 months to pick my pictures and get my album pages set up to how I like them. Add in the holidays & I am gonna cry- I feel like she is just gonna slap them together.

How long do you usually get to do your album- my best friend just finished hers and it was like 16 months after her wedding.

Re: Photographer question

I think it's typically open-ended, pretty much it's left in your hands and you don't get anything until you do the work of deciding what you want.....we sent ours in a couple of weeks ago and our photographer said it was fast compared to most brides!

If there isn't anything in your initial contract about this $99 business maybe you can fight it or ask her to give you longer?

yea there is nothing in the contract about that- she just sprung it on me afterwards. Our final payment was done the night of the wedding, so there is nothing that I can hold her to.

That seems very unfair...can you tell her that the extra charge was not in your contract and that you won't be done in 2 months?

I did mine and it only had taken 2 months but the photographer dragged it on - if your really worried why not ask for your pics and to take them elsewhere. Its not your issue that she is switching site hosts its her/him's

Mine had originally said that I would get the proof book by October 27th- I still havent gotten it have just seen the online pictures through pictage.com- which stinks because the only way to download them is if you buy them

Re: Photographer question

my photog used one web service to post, then was going to switch to pictage, who did copy our proofs there but then photog wasn't happy with their services and stayed with his orig guy.

none of this impacted me at all except if I wanted to view pics on pictage I had to wait til they were loaded.
photog gave me proofs and dvd with them and I used these to pick pics for album.now he does album editing and creating pages in house and only sends out printing and binding so that might make a difference why she wants to charge.

but I would tell her that's her tough luck - - she chose to switch now , not you and I would tell her you will NOT BE RUSHED. her switchinbg is part of HER BUSINESS and she should eat those costs. that's what I would tell her and threaten to complain to BBB AND to post her name here!!!

that might get her to back down.

I would also tell her that you are no way sure that she can turnaround changes you request to the album layout in that short a timeframe. (my photog is so busy it takes 3 weeks or more for changes to get back to me.) but it's looking nice.
