First of all...Congratulations Ladies on your weddings..Secondly..I need your expertise!! I am in a search for a photographer. I keep running into problems and need some advice. If you have received your finished wedding albums, this email is for you...Plesae help me if you can. I live in Jersey, having a LI wedding, but dont know the area ( it is nice though by the way)..ok.. 1.what photographers did a great job and why?2 2. Do most photographers touch up their photos, because when I look at some of the web sites, their pictures dont look touched up and I dont think I like that. 3. Do photographers put something special on the pictures to help preserve them? I am asking these questions, because I LOVED Twelfth nights web site, their pictures looked great, but when I spoke to the man, he said that he gives me the negatives and proofs and I do the blow ups myself and that he wouldnt do anything different than what I could do, he laughed when I asked him if he preserved the pictures in anyway..and now this especially concerns me because I went to Perceptions today which had BEAUTIFUL work, but the sales assistant couldnt tell me if he puts something special on the finished photo. I have more appts with Patken and Fredericks studio tomorrow and a few others..can anyone tell me what photographers they were completely happy with and why? I feel lost..we drove ALL overe LI today and had no luck, we are doing the same thing tomorrow..In just need all of the advice I can get! PLEASE!!! Sorry this is so long,,but thanks for listening!!

We used Marcos Photography of Holbrook. We had Marcos himself do the photos. He did a great job because he lived up to everything he said he would do. On my wedding day it was over cast, but when we got to the recpt sight the clouds broke and we had a shot at a sunset shot. To give the shot more color he added a filter. It turned out great. He actually had to leave before the recept started. There was a family emergency. So he upgraded our album type, and instead of 36 pics(pages) 50. So he did well by us.
WOW!! What a nice photo..thankyou for responding! I actually just booked a photographer today, I went with Patken..and I feel really good about it. It wsa just stressful because I really heard some stories from some photographers...but congratulations on your wedding and THANKYOU for taking the time to offer me advice!

I also used Patken. I used them because my sister used them for her wedding, and I just LOVED the way her pics came out. So we used the same person. Now 2 of my friends are getting married, and using them too.

Oh thats great! I feel so good about that. I nevere knew choosing a photographer was such a big deal, But I do like their work, they have a little bit of everything and they are very nice. Thats good to hear that so mnay people use them. Thankyou for letting me know that!!!

Where in NJ do you live? I live in NJ and used Autumn Lin. She's in Bay Ridge and it's pretty easy to get to from NJ- take Holland to Brooklyn Battery...
She does everything you are looking for and has great, affordable packages and can do pretty much any style you are looking for.
Not only did everyone compliment me on my photos, but they complimented me on Autumn herself- she had such a nice demeanor... usually photographers you want to beat them up!!!

If you are still looking, you should definitely check out Imagine Studios. There is another bride on here, Alina, who is having her wedding in NJ and she is using them. A few of us on here have used them, their work is spectacular. I do not know anything about touching up the pix or preserving them in any way special. You could ask that question when you call.
I found my photographer..YEA..I am using Patken..I did like Imagines work, but was told that you had to book the for both photOgraphy AND video..and I wanted to use WILD ROSE...but Thankyou everyone for your advice...I appreciate it all!!!

We used Park Ave Studios in Sayville. they do not touch their photos. Ours were as beautiful as the ones they have on their walls. They work inconspicuously and do not 'take over' like a lot of photographers do. try www.parkavestudios.com or search for Park ave studios in Sayville, NY. My only complaint is they are taking slightly longer than expected to deliver our wedding album. Some pics had to be reprinted as they were not up to their professional standards- that's actually a good thing!

Professional photos look different than say a Costco or Shutterfly order because of the paper and chemicals used, not because of a special perserve. Also, the camera and film used makes a difference. I know if you have a re-touched photo (not digital, but the old fashioned way) they actually use a spray to protect the photo. If you have permission to reprint your negatives you can use a professional studio to do the work. You don't order your wedding enlargements from Costco. The lab will work with you, just as if you were ordering for a client.
I loved Mark Kauffman because: a) he worked with me to make sure that my style was reflected in my photos, not just his. b) he doesn't force you to purchase a certain package. he customizes them for you. c) I have 1800 proofs. sounds like a lot, and yes it is but I have all the moments of my entire day beautifully captured.

I met with Steve at Patken and liked him, but when I called back to book him, he was already booked for our date. They said they have 5 other photogrphers available for our date, but I can't meet them till after we put down a deposit. I don't really like that idea
If you don't mind me asking. who did you use from Patken?? I'm leary about picking someone I haven't met, I just think personality is very important.
If anyone has any recommendations on a photographer, besides Steve, from Patken, please reply, thanks
