Rob picked the country. We originally were planning
a trip to Italy for our honeymoon- but since it was
2000-'Jubilee' was being celebrated (Catholic church in existance
for 2000 years) most of the hotels were solidly booked.
Rob picked the country cuz it is exotic, the people
there are freindly to Americans, Exchange rates are
excellant, we like to learn about diff cultures, and
we also enjoy the food.
Rob just bought me a book- 'culture shock-Thailand'
that discusses different customs and the etiquette there.
Seems like a LOT of rules..(dont point with your feet,
dont lean against a wall w/ your legs in fron of you- feet are
considered the LOWEST part of the body there it is an insult),
'dont talk w. your hands' will be a little challenging
for me since I am Italian!
Can your jhusband give us any tips, cities, sites that
we should see?
As far as tips, sites and cities, he is probably as clueless as me, he has not been back to the country since he was five years old (he is now 31, although his mother goes about twicea year.
Don't worry about the customs at all. Do you know how many things I have done to his realatives without realizing that I was breaking custom? I hate to say it, but it is no big deal, they understand that it is not your customs
Well wnjoy and if I think of anything, I'll post it for you!
whew! thanks..although I am wondering if it does
make a difference because we are going to
THEIR country...hmm
I doubt it b/c his relatives that come over here are very laid back. Anyways, good luck
and any tips form his parents will be
appreciated as well!
