Picked out album photos!

Justed wanted to say that we finally picked out the photos for the wedding album. It`s only been 12 months since the wedding!!! :-) There were just so many proofs, that it was hard to pick the best of the best. But, our photographer`s assistant was very helpful with pointing out ideas. Now that it`s done, I`m very very very anxious to see the final album...

How long did it take for you guys to place your album orders after the wedding???

Picked out album photos! We did too!

We picked our out last Sunday. We were married Sept 14th. I wanted to get it done so we can get the album. Imagine is our photographer and Lia was extremely helpful in creating the album. Now I cant wait to get it!

Picked out album photos!

Question... You say that it took you 12 months to do this. I'm having trouble getting this don too and my photographer told me that they can only honor the prices for 2 months after the wedding! I only have like 3.5 weeks left! Is this normal?

Picked out album photos!

I am going on Saturday to do mine. We were married on September 22. I am going with my husband. Is this a bad idea? Am I better off going alone? Did you pay extra for all the upgrades??? I am afraid to go there and end up leaving with a $500 bill on top of what we already paid.

Getting ready to start making decisions...

I put all our proofs in a proof album, just to make it easier to look and sort through them all, so we basically have an idea of what we like and don`t for when it comes time to sit with the studio.

Lucky for us, the rain helped in narrowing our selection for us, since we probably came away with less photos than we would have had, had it not rained. But, I`m sure we are going to use some of the restaged outdoor shots.

We were told to prepare for a meeting of about three hours when we sit to put our album together. Is that typical?

Believe me, I`m fine with our studio telling us they will be taking their time with us to put our album together. I`d hate it if they told us to just pick out 60 photos for the 60 pages.

The only downside to a meeting this long, is trying to figure out how I`m going to fit this into my schedule! :(

Before we do our album though, we need to do our parents` albums. Now, that`s going to be tough. They only get 20 pictures!

Getting ready to start making decisions...

We did ours about 3 months after the wedding, mainly because the photographer digitally stores the negatives and they get archived after about 4 months and are more difficult to retrieve (not that they can't be, it just takes longer).

I went by myself and ended up buying a lot of extra reprints outside of our original package, although I didn't change the album (70 pics). So, my bill is definitely higher than we original thought. It took about 2 hours to go through everything and lay out the album. Well worth the time and money! They said I should have my album by the end of the year - I hope so, I can't wait!!

It was fun

I started out the same way Kel did, by putting everything into an album that was loosely the order of the day. We went thorough all of the multiples (dancing with parents, cake, family shots etc.) and picked out the best shots. Then we went through and picked out our favorites - We Have Around 150! So to narrow that down we (I should say I) tried to take out some and make up some composite pages. We did this over multiple days.

By the time we went in to meet with Lia we had a good idea of what we wanted. She had some great suggestions on composite pages and digital effects. Our meeting was under 2 hrs. We walked away with only 2 additional pages in our album. I downsized one picture we had in our contract from 16x20 (where did I think I was going to put that??) to 11x14 which gave us some credit so in total I am only $200.00 over our original contract. Not too bad.

Picked UP my album last week!!!!!

I just picked up our album last week (right before Thanksgiving, so we were able to show everyone, and to present the parents' albums to both sets of parents)!!! They all came out great!

We didn't put our albums together until about 6 months after the wedding (we're slow moving - still haven't done the video). However, we certainly weren't given a deadline regarding 'holding the price'. That's wrong, and you shouldn't stand for it (however, first read your contract to see what it says).

I strongly suggest going to the 'album picking' meeting with your husband. This way, you can both decide what to add, what to cut out, and if you want to add a LOT (which we did), it will be a joint decision. Besides, this way, he feels like a real part of this process, if he wants to. It was fun having him there, and I didn't think he'd be into it, but he really was.

We ended up with over 150 pictures in our album, including some composite dance pages, but are thoroughly happy with our decision to add so much to the package. Now, we have everything we want in our album, and it really tells the full story. However, it's really heavy, but that's okay!!!

Now, onto gathering those pictures for the beginning of the video....and we were married on Sept. 24, 2000, so we're really taking a long time...

Ladies, enjoy this! It's the final step of the wedding.

Glory, you may not remember me but...

Hi Glory!!!

We met at the photographers studio when you were picking up your proofs...We used the same photography studio (Mark Kauffman/Angelica Studios). I hope all is well with you and your marriage!!!

I was wondering who is helping you design your album at the studio. I haven't picked out my album for my April 2001 wedding either, and we're planning on doing it in January so that we can have the album by our anniversary:o)!!!

You said the person that is helping you is great so maybe I can choose them to help us...

Anyway, I hope all is well!!!

Ayanna

P.S. What did you do for thank you's? i mean which type did you select from his choices. Also, who were your photographers? We had Mark and Lynn, and the bought 2 others with them...My proofs are GORGEOUS like your's were (i remember the one that you showed me with you and the little girls:o)!!) and I'm just so sure that it's hard to choose!! We have 2200 Proofs!!!! I'm DEFINITELY going to have 2 volumes---aaaggghhhhh!!!! THANKS GLORY!!!!

Still Waiting

I got married in June 2000 and picked out my photos in Sept 2000. I added lots of extra shots, but kept the album to the original contract. A lot of the album shots are custom and we have a lot of mosaic pages. However, I still haven't seen or heard a thing from the Photographer. Anyone else wait this long?

Still Waiting - That sounds a little long

How long did your photographer tell you it would take. We were told to expect our completed album etc in about 5 months.

Picked out album photos - AYANNA!!!

Ayanna,

Of course I remember you!!! You and I were on the brides-helping-brides chat board around the same time, too. It`s like we`re in the same 'graduating class' or something!

Sorry about not replying earlier. The chat board was experiencing some technical difficulties one day, and …well…life`s just been busy, too!

Married life is great! We had our first anniversary a few weeks ago. MY HOW TIME FLIES! We had a Las Vegas trip booked for the end of October, but we we`re not up to celebrating quite yet. The whole 9/11 feeling was still too fresh for us. (Instead, my husband surprised me with a town car to take us into Manhattan at a posh restaurant and 13th row tickets to the opera!…what a guy!!!)

ANYWAY, to answer your question, Pedro helped me with designing the album layout. He has a lot of patience and was very focused. He had some really great ideas, too! I went in with a whole stack of MUST HAVE proofs to be used in the album, and Pedro was very good about incorporating them all. I would highly suggest working with him.

2200 PROOFS!?!?!? Holy cow! I thought my 1500 was a lot! My husband was so intimidated by the stacks of proofs, that it took 11 months for him to finally sit down to look through them all. (Of course, I didn`t leave Mark`s studio until I saw them all!) We have it designed for two volumes: 1) get ready and church & 2) pictures at park and reception. Each was about 60 pages, I think. I can`t wait to see how it turns out!

Our main photographer was Tony the whole day. Drew and Josh were on candids. They were all great! All the proofs came out beautifully!!!

We didn`t send Thank You`s with pictures. We were already so over-budget with everything (like who isn`t?), that we had to cut back with somethings. So, we bought a bunch of postcards on our honeymoon (Disney World), and sent those out. We got a lot of compliments on how cute that was. I`m sure some people thought it was inappropriate/tacky, but we can`t please everyone no matter what we do! So, we did what we needed to do!!! :-)

I hope all is going well with you, too! Best of luck with the Thank You`s and the album. Let us all know how that comes out!!! BTW, do you have any pictures posted? I have one on my profile. It`s my husband`s absolute favorite one taken the whole day!
