Picking out album pics

How did you go about picking out your album pics? I am going through them and it is so hard, I don't want to leave any out.

Re: Picking out album pics

Hmmm...I guess I had the same problem, that's why I'm picking them out now--9 months later!

Anyway, it is difficult, and I'm only choosing about 40. I found the best way was to put post-its on all the ones I liked and then narrow them down from there. Also, I figured, we have all the proofs; even if some don't make the final cut into the album, I can always get them made into portraits down the line.

Good luck!

Re: Picking out album pics

This is what I wish I knew prior to meeting with the photographer...

1) Decide the order you want your album to go.

2) Select your favorite pictures that captures the day.

3) Lay them out so they will be paired up like they would be in your album...opening page picture, then pairs of pictures until the closing page. Seeing them next to each other made all the difference in the world for me.

Use a sticky on the back of photos that require special handling (flipping, touch-ups, color/b&w conversion, panoramic, etc.)

Keep a list of the proofs in order just in case you need to make any changes after you turned in the proofs - this happened to us and would have been useful.

Good luck!!!!!!!

Re: Picking out album pics

WE had a hard time also and added a lot of extra's to our album. We went through the and pickd ones that we both liked. My husband kept telling me, don't worry because you can always see them anytime you want in the proof's albums.

Re: Picking out album pics

Our photographer put the proofs in a book. So they were very nicely placed together.

I wanted a mostly candid pics in my album. I pulled pictures from each part of the day that I liked. I also pulled posed shots that I felt should be in the album (our families, bridal party). At this point I had more pictures than I needed.

Once I did that, I wrote on yellow pieces of paper the different sizes that were to be used. (And some pages were a mix of 4 pictures). I attached each picture to the slip of paper with a paper clip and put them in the order I wanted to see them.

I then sat down with DH and went through them. He helped me cut certain pictures and also found some pictures that worked better that I had overlooked. He also looked at the pictures that I chose and then at the ones that were similar and gave his opinion on which version he liked best.

After completing this, I wrote the order down. Originally I thought that I would suck it up and buy extra pages for the album, but he really helped me stick to the number in our contract.

Good luck. This was a lot of work.

Re: Picking out album pics

This is what we did.

1-they were already in order (chronological from beginning of the day to the end)

2-then separate them from the same pose/location category (My photographer took a couple of the same poses)

3-then picked out the best ones from each category

4-then sorted though the best ones and picked as many we had pages per our albumn

but we went over photo count by a little, oh well

Re: Picking out album pics

luckily our proofs came in order in 3 albums so it's easy to look through them...
it was suggested to us that I should go through the proofs and pick out my favorites... then DH should pick out his favorites... and then compare which ones you both chose and those are the ones that go into the album...

but I think it sounds easier said than done... it took us days to just pick out our thank you pic...
