Picking proofs for the album

Picking proofs for the album

How did you pick the proofs for your album. There are like 10 shots each of the same pic. Did you line them up on the table and do process of elimination??? Ugghhh I can't take this, there are too many!!!! Thanks

That's exactly what I did - lined up pics that were similar- for example a shot of us with the bridal party or with parents, etc -, once we eliminated those where someone had their eyes closed, wasn't smiling, looking away, etc. - we were ususally down to just a couple. I thought it would be a really daunting task, but its not bad once you get started. I think we put 60 or so in the album from about 450 proofs, so we narrowed down to 200 pretty easily, then 150 then 100, and so on. Good Luck!

I feel your pain - it is a difficult process. What I did is first go thru the proofs and pull out all the absolutely nots. Then I did what you said. I lined them up on a table, sorted them in categories, and put the same exact shots in a pile so that I could pick out the best shot. I had to have my mother help b/c after looking at them a million times I needed another opinion to help me eliminate a few.

What was difficult for me was to decide which particular type of shot I wanted in the album. For example - did I want the bridal party in B&W, going out of the church, or entering the reception. For this I am asking my photographers opinion when I sit with him for my album meeting.

Hope this helps. Good luck going thru your pictures.
