How long did it take everyone. DH and i got our proofs back in december and we still have not picked our pictures for the album. We also have to pick our music and dating pics for the video....i feel like we are total slackers......i just can't get into deciding on everything. uggghhh
It took a few months for us. I kept going back to my list and changing a few things. Then i picked way too many and didn't realize it, so narrowing it down was really hard. Although we did end up giving up the 16x20 for more pics in our album. Well we picked all of our pictures but have yet to finalize our album! We can only go on a saturday and can never get an appointment! We did put it off for a while, but are now planning to make an appointment to do it on Valentine's day! Take your time, you'll have the album forever!
I first got our proofs ...I looked through them once...just to see them and enjoy them. then about a week later I went through them again to choose my favorites. I had maybe 150 that I absolutely LOOOOOVED and then a bunch of maybes. obviously I had to narrow it down so we looked through similar photos...layed them all out together and eliminated based on which we thought had the best lighting or had the most interest or sentimental value. Then I went through them all again and again to make sure my feelings hadn't changed about the types of photos I wanted in my albums. when I went for my meeting we layed out the favorites...then we sorted them by timeline ...then we eliminated / added / substituted. Don't expect to walk in to your photographer and have a solid layout. Also keep in mind instead of wasting 1 whole page on a pic of your headpiece or the detail of your dress...you can put 2-3 smaller 'detail' pics on a page. (but you'll pay for 3 prints instead f 1)
