Please help! I need info from those who have gone before me!

I am wondering if anyone can tell me what happends to your credit after you get married. If one partner had fabulous credit, and the other has a bit of trouble (but not huge) Does all the hard work and common sense you put into your financial stability change when you inherit someones name?
Please any advice would be so helpful, I cannot find anything on the internet.

I think your credit is still rated seperately. Its only when you look to make a big ticket thing like a mortgage do they check on both of your credit scores and give you an assessment based on their own financial models.

Not 100% sure about that though.

when we went for our mortgage, my credit was better (not that DH is bad) than DH, so the mortgage company put me as primary. That helped us get a better rate. They will work with you. Sometimes it pays to have on person buy something (ie. a car or appliances) that has the 'better credit.

Personally I think credit ratings are BS because if something is on your credit that is wrong, and you try and fix it, it could still hinder you getting credit!!
