please help the fashionably challenged couple!

So DH's brother's wedding is Saturday. Its very informal, 50 people, no bridal party. DH is the best man. His brother told him to where any suit, he, the groom isn't wearing a tux, he's wearing a charcoal suit. So DH just bought a new suit. Its a nice Navy suit.
What color shirt and tie do you wear with a Navy suit? He came back from Macy's and bought a whole bunch of shirts and ties. I am clueless when it comes to men's fashion. I thought the plain white shirt looked way too stark next to the dark navy, but he also bought 3 light blue shirts, I think its too much blue!
I thought men's fashion was supposed to be easy!
What does your DH wear with a Navy suit?
What do you think, light blue or white shirt?
I don't think he wants to shop again tomorrow!
Please help. He's giving me an endless fashion show of shirt/tie combos as we speak, and I'm not crazy about any of them.

ETA: He just put on a lavender shirt with a deeper purple tie. I'm losing my mind, I thought it looked nice, but I don't trust my opinion!

With navy there is a lot of options

You can do light blue or pale yellow. If it is a formal event I would stick to white or light blue.

When DH buys a suit he goes to the place and has them pick out everything down to the socks! LOL

With his navy suit the guy gave him a light blue and white checked shirt - that he wears without a tie sometimes. He also gave him chocolate brown shoes and a matching belt. i THINK the tie was a shiny solid navy blue.

We watched our video to see what everyone was wearing! It was mostly white shirts and some louder colored ones with black suits. I can't believe i lost sleep over this and now must get ready for work.

DH calls himself the fashionable one in the relationship BUT when it comes to suits and picking colors, i always give him a better idea lol. He has his idea and i'll throw something out there and he hates it but he'll like my idea more and do it.

We went to a wedding in september and dh wanted to wear his navy pinstripe suit, it was very dark navy though. ANd i remembered that he always liked what my dad wore to our e-party so i told him to do it with a lavendar shirt and gold tie, he tried it on and liked it alot. THis is how it looked



Pink ties would also go well with navy, or even a cranberry tie would be good for this time of year. Maybe have him wear an ivory shirt so its not so stark and with a cranberry, or cinnamon type tie.

The wedding was last night and was so much fun. DH wound up wearing a pale blue shirt with a Navy/light blue/silver tie. We went so crazy over nothing - he looked great. It was funny, I now notice what shirt/tie combo every guy has on, while I never ever noticed it before.

The wedding was at the Pratt Mansion -- it was perfect for this couple - very pretty and intimate -- several small rooms. Its great for anyone who wants a smaller wedding in the city. Instead of a regular bar, they had champagne/wine/beer -- and these guys kept refilling your glass. I don't know how much champagne I had, but I'm having a hard time functioning today!
