When I first found out I was losing my job I sent a letter to my #1 target company on Long Island - just a fishing expedition to see if they were hiring.
Well that was in July and I had just gotten a rather generic response at the time but THEY JUST CALLED ME!!!
I have a phone interview on Monday morning. The job sounds like it's right in line with my experience (I just hope it pays enough...)
Anyway - prayers, good wishes etc. are all welcomed. I'm just so exicited I had to tell someone!!!

I just found out that I had gotten a permanent job where I've been a contractor for two years. I found out on my honeymoon last week.
Hope the good luck rubs off! I've got my fingers crossed too!

I have a face-to-face meeting on the 15th to meet one other person, and to sit with HR, but he basically said they`d go through the HR formalities of drug testing, background checks etc. and would quite likely be calling me with an offer around the 20th.
As long as the meeting goes well in a few weeks, and we can come to terms on the compensation package it looks like I`ll be LI bound real soon.
The company is on the south shore in Bayport - off exit 62 on the LIE. Can any of you recommend some nice, safe areas out that way - within say a half-hour drive of the area? We'll need to start looking for houses - would prefer to buy...

I live on the South Shore of Suffolk and here are some towns I recommend on the South Shore:
East Islip, Islip Terrace, Brightwaters (part of Bay Shore), Oakdale and Sayville.
On the North Shore:
Hauppauge, Smithtown, Nesconset, Holbrook and Holtsville.
