Did you make your maiden name your legal middle?

Well I choose 'No, took DH's last name but kept old middle' but actually I don't have a middle name.

I chose yes, but I think I've mentioned before that I kept my old middle name, and just made my maiden name a second legal middle name, so I'm Rachel C.C. Greenspan

None of the above ... took DH's last name, completely dropped maiden name, do not have a middle name

I didn't go to court to have it legally done, but according to SS and everything else I have now I am Vicki Maiden NewLastName.

Since I didn't have a middle name this was a good compromise for me.

I was thinking about it because I don't have a middle name, but my maiden name would sound funny as a middle name. So I took DH's last name, but I have a couple of things monogrammed and I used AMC as my initials

I was going to...but then I found out how difficult it is to legally change your middle name. It's pretty much the same process as changing your first name, many many weeks of paperwork, over $200 in fees, as well as having to put ads in the newspaper (?). Me being the lazy butt that I am decided maybe it wasn't THAT important to change my middle name. So, I've officially kept my old middle name, and taken my husband's last name.

I chose that too but I did something different, I kept middle name and my new last name is Maiden Name Married Name w/o a hyphen!

Can we give you one? Wendy Cakes, perhaps?

I didn't keep my maiden name at all-- I was going
to hyphenate, but then it sounds like a verb, so I dropped it. I like my middle name. I used to use first-middle as my first name, when I was being difficult.

DH and I both hyphenated our last name and kept our middle names. It's annoying at times (our last name now is 16 letters with a hyphen) but, it's fun sometimes, like when we bought our bed and they needed my last name. I always got 'Can you spell that?' before (maiden name is Italian) but now the looks on people's faces is even better.
My middle name is short - Ann - but DH's middle name is his grandmothers maiden name, so it makes it even better!

Do you mind explaining the process to me. I want to do this - but i want to do it legally as you say rather than just getting it done at SS office and DMV.

This might be a stupid question but, how do you make it legal? So far I have changed it on my SS card, some credit cards, bank. Did anyone have a problem changing it at DMV? They wont let me change my licence until I have 6 points of doucuments. Did anyone have this problem?

Just to address you first question -If you make your maiden name your middle name i think you make it legal by oficially filing a name change with the Court. It is a whole process that i was just wondering what the details were.
