Poll - DJ's at showers

Ive attended a shower in the past with a DJ and there were alot of mixed feelings about it.
Some thought it was over the top and felt it was showy and others thought it made for a nice change.

Im going to another one and the topic has come up again.

What is everyone elses thoughts on it?

i'd prob say it was a bit showy. but that's just me.

showers are a great place for everyone to just mingle and chit-chat and enjoy each other -- i don't see the point of needing a DJ there. are a bunch of women supposed to dance together?

if anything, i see nothing wrong with someone bringing a small boombox and setting up an ipod for some ambient music--but DJ? naaah.

over the top.

A shower should have some subtle background music. It's not an occassion to dance, it's an occassion to chit chat about the upcoming event.

Umm I think I may actually like the idea. I mean its not my style but I have a fun group of friends and I can think of 2 of them that would love to dance and get loose, you know what I mean. But I guess that is the point of the bachelorette party so hmmm.

Did people dance?

Ok I am rethinking it, it is a bit odd unless it was a night time event?

people danced but it was very awkward. It was the early afternoon. She didnt open her gifts either.

This is how I feel. I feel like a shower is a nice gathering to celebrate something for the bride - or mother to be.

I just feel like a DJ is to much. It makes me nervous b/c its happening more and more. I hope that its not going to become the norm down the road.

eh, not necessary. That just seems like a bit much for me. But I'm the type who just always feels like Showers should be intimate parties - whether it's Bridal or a Baby Shower. I don't personally like it when things like that are overdone. Just not my style. Save the DJ for an Anniversary Party or Birthday Bash
