We went to a Greek TA on Saturday to get a little more guidance for our HM, and based on her feedback, we might be changing our original plan of 4 days Crete, 4 days Santorini, 3 days Aigo, 2 days Athens. She seemed to think that the beaches aren't that great in Crete, and that Santorini is boring after 3 days. She said that the best beaches in Greece are actually in Aigo (DH's family's town), and that if we're looking for the beach, we should spend more time there.
So she proposed not doing Crete, and doing 3 days/3 nights in Mykonos, which has better beaches than Santorini, 4th day travel day, then 3 days/3 nights in Santorini, then 4th day travel day, then 4 days in Aigio, and the last 2 full days in Athens, and leave on the 15th day. We're leaning towards this now because it will cut down on the expensive hotels in the islands, and we can mooch in Aigo Or maybe just 2 nights and stay in a hotel the other 2.
I was a little leery of Mykonos because it's known for hard partying, and we're so not in to that, but it has the draw of nice beaches too. I'm completely unprepared because I never considered we'd go there, so have no hotel ideas. I know the one they're going to propose to us, because they agency owns it and it got really bad reviews on Trip Builder so I don't want to stay there (San Marco hotel).
Anyone who's been, what hotel did you stay at in Mykonos, and would you recommend it? TIA!!!

Re: Possible change of plans...Mykonos hotels?
Hey Ali ... just a thought ... why don't you cross-post this to BHB too? I am not sure how many NWs have been to Greece but maybe there are some other ladies out there who could help!

Re: Possible change of plans...Mykonos hotels?
When I went to Mykonos we stayed at the Royal Myconian. It was far enough out of town that it was very secluded and quite but you could still take a taxi and be in the center of everything within 15 minutes.
DH and I stayed here on our honeymoon. It was AMAZING. A bit expensive, but totally worth it.

Thank you so much, I will definitely show these to DH....still not 100% sure we're going there, we still might do Crete, but these definitely look awesome.
