Post-Nuptial Depression

Post-Nuptial Depression

My day is in about 4 months. FH is really concerned that after all the wedding planning is over, that I'm going to be bored ('all I ever see you do is go on those chat boards' he says).

Anyone experience the let down of no more planning? I don't expect to experience it, but I was just wondering if anyone did.

I thought I would, but I never got a chance to. We closed on our house about 2 weeks after getting back from the honeymoon so I have been really busy with that.
Oh, and I still come on the chat boards! There is the newleywed board, Home, Pets, NWR..

I felt the same way. I thought I would miss the planning and anticipation, but I felt so relieved and happy when it was over.

Re: Post-Nuptial Depression

To be honest with you I totally did. I had days when it was fine but other days i was really sad it was over. It took me a while to want to even hear anything about anyone else's wedding because i was jealous i couldnt go through all the planning all over again.

You get so much attention during that time and then you come home and its all over and you miss it.

I have to say that during the process of planning I never muttered the words that most brides do 'IM SO STRESSED' I loved every minute and second of the planning and the day i felt no to very little stress over anything, so maybe that was the reason i was sad it was over.

I know its normal and it will go away but do expect a little. I have my dress hanging in my bedroom and feel a little sad every once in a while cause i wont get to wear it again. Enjoy the wedding and all the stuff before and its like a break up with an old boyfriedn there will be some time of healing after its over.

I still have days I am sad about it being over. Honestly though, I have spent more time on these boards than before and I'm really enjoying it.

I totally got sad and depressed about it. BUT, we bought our condo, bought furniture, and finished graduate school right BEFORE the wedding. I think if we had done those things AFTER the wedding, well, at least the home and furniture part, I wouldn't have been so bored and sad

I was definitely let down after the wedding, and wanted to have another one right away!

The one thing that was great though, was having my weekend and evenings back to myself... no more appointments and running around like crazy!

Re: Post-Nuptial Depression

I never had the chance to have downtime as I left my job and started student teaching about two weeks after the honeymoon.

A girl I used to work with had it really bad though and she warned me that I would get it because I loved planning the wedding so much. Needless to say I never got it because I was way to busy.

Now I am still way to busy !!!

My advice: pick up a new hobby!!

I missed it all right after the wedding, for a few months actually. But then you move on. New and exciting things will happen in your life and you won't even remember all the pre wedding planning and stress. And like someone else said, this chat board has pleanty of other boards besides wedding planning!! You can still come on and talk about the new and exciting things happening post wedding!!

Hmmn, I wonder will I miss it. I feel so stresses right now, that I probably won't. But I am trying to enjoy every moment of it.

I thought I would go through wedding withdrawal but I totally didn't! I miss certain things sometimes, but I never got depressed over it! Other things quickly fill up your time and you get back to your LIFE. It really nice!

I didn't miss the wedding planning....but I was sad that the BIG day was over. We had the time of our lives and didn't want it to end.
