Pregnant and untenured ??

Pregnant and untenured ??

I've got tenure in my current school, but might consider leaving next year. DH and I just got married in May and weren't planning on for another year or two. But stuff happens.

If I leave my current school, I'm untenured for at least two years. What happens if I get pregnant? I know they can't legally fire me for it, but can it happen anyway?

If I'm untenured and have a baby, how much time can I take of for maternity leave?

Thanks in advance!!!

tenure or not you cannot get fired if you get pregnant. You can take up to 12 weeks for the FEMLA but I think that is only after 6 months or 1 year of employment.

If you took a leave before you were tenured they might extend your probationary period.

You are also not guaranteed the same grade and or room. If there are no positions availbe then the principal will help place you in another schoo. You can't get fired for getting pregnant, but when you try to come back, you can be excessed

This is what worries me... I'm a guidance counselor, so there are literally hundreds of applicants for every job...
