Re: Previous Bora Bora Honeymooners
I went to Bora Bora!
We didn't stay at Hotel Bora Bora - it was way out of budget for us. That hotel is phenomenal - it is where all the stars stay when they visit French Polynesia. We stayed at the Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort, which is a sister property to Hotel Bora Bora. The rooms were very, very nice - well appointed and romantic. And the food was absolutely incredible - we felt like we were presented with works of art every evening - and the service was top notch. So, if that's any indication of how much better Hotel Bora Bora WILL be...

Re: Previous Bora Bora Honeymooners
We just went to Bora Bora in June and we stayed at the Sheraton Bora Bora Nui and we did stop by the Hotel Bora Bora to take a look when we were there. The Bora Bora Nui is just pure luxury and is brand new about 6-8 months old. I felt like a queen staying there. We stayed in the deep overwater bungalow which is 1,000 sq. ft (bigger than some apt. in NYC). There's a separate living room from the bedroom (with canopy bed), and the bathroom is so spacious - it had a bathtub sized for 2, a separate shower which was like walking into a huge walk-in closet, his and her sinks/counter. They offer shuttle service (golf carts) to and from the reception to your bungalow if you are too lazy to walk. A bit of a glitch was their boat shuttle service to the main town (hotel is located on a 'motu' small island off the main island). The schedule was not as frequent/convenient as we had experienced at another hotel (we also stayed at the Bora Bora Lagoon) and there are many other restaurants and shops in town to visit. We complained to the manager about this - so maybe they will increase the shuttle service.
Since the Hotel Bora Bora is so historic and since it was the only hotel that wouldn't give a discount off their rates, we stopped by to take a look. We walked around the grounds of Hotel Bora Bora and saw one of the garden bungalows (all the overwater bungalows were occupied). The rooms are probably as spacious as the Bora Bora Nui but it wasn't as new and luxurious. Also, we noticed that the people who were staying there were much more of an older crowd rather than young honeymooners.
We also stayed at the Bora Bora Lagoon which is on the opposite end of the motu from Bora Bora Nui. It is also a wonderful hotel with great amenities which we split our time in Bora Bora to save some money ($100 less a night than Bora Bora Nui and included breakfast buffet).
I have some great pictures that I will post.

Re: Previous Bora Bora Honeymooners
i would love to see pics!! After doing some research for my friend, it has enticed me to look into Bora Bora for our HM, esp. since our orignal HM destination is out of the question. We were going to go to the Seychelles or Maldives islands but found out that it is rain season at the time we want to go, so we are back to the drawing board. But Bora Bora looks beautiful!!! I would love to see pics please!!!! thanks!!

Re: Previous Bora Bora Honeymooners
Danim823: You will have to check the guide books to see when the rainy season is. When we went in June (not rainy season) we encountered heavy rain on the night we arrived. Then only one full day of rain (it rained intermittently all day). And then on the day we were flying back to the US we encountered another heavy rain showers beginning late in the afternoon just as we were heading to the airport (it was beautiful and sunny in the AM). I think we encountered more rain than usual during our 2 week stay.Welcome New Vendors
