it is O.K nothing to write home about.
sometimes there are hidden fees at the checkout process.

Therefore I just end up booking throu our travel agent. works out cheaper esp if I give him competition prices

Nothing like waiting until the absolute last second to make a decision ...

About a month ago, I booked through Hotwire for a hotel in Canada (Quebec) and was very happy.
The price and the hotel were great.

I've used Hotwire before and been happy HTH!

ETA: I would do some research on what hotels are in the particular area you're looking in each star level so you can get a better idea which hotel you might be getting A lot of times you can tell b/c there aren't too many at each star rating in the given area...
