I am hoping to have around 160 at the reception (invited just over 200). My wedding ceremony is in a church on a Friday. How many programs do you think will be necessary? What were your numbers? I am trying to take into account that it is a Friday and there is a time gap, so I am thinking that not even close to everyone will come to the ceremony. Also, I figure not everyone will take a program, especially if it is a couple, then I would think only one of the couple will. What were your experiences? Thanks!

Re: Programs advice from the newlyweds please
I think one per couple is fine. is it a friday after work?? I had 200 people, and made 75 programs and there were just a few extras. so maybe 50 would be enough for you ?

Re: Programs advice from the newlyweds please
I printed a 100 programs and 80 were taken.
I had about 100 guests at my ceremony that would need a program - the bridal party does not get a program so subtract them. Surpringly, almost everyone who went to the recpetion, also came to the ceremony.
So I would print enough for 80% of your guest list.

Re: Programs advice from the newlyweds please
Thanks everyone for your help. The ceremony is at 4pm on a Friday in July. Since that is not exactly convenient for most people, i figured a lot of people would only come to the reception. I was thinking of making 75, but now I am wondering if that is too much and maybe I should just do 50.
Stef - was yours on a Saturday or on a Friday like mine?

My wedding was on a Saturday so you probably will have fewer people, but if its not that much more expensive to make more than enough, I would go with too many rather than not enough.

I would say to go with 100 just to be safe.

Re: Programs advice from the newlyweds please
I had 100 programs. We were expecting 150. B/C we got married 4 days after 9/11 we only had about 125 guets. But we still had a few leftover. Not a whole lot though.
So I would say 75-100 is a good number of programs.
Ours was on a Saturday afternoon.

Re: Programs advice from the newlyweds please
We had a full house for our ceremony although there were a few who did not show but did attended our reception. We anticipated 90-100 people to show for our ceremony as we were having 150 guests for our reception. Turns out it was about 95-100 guests for the ceremony. I made 160 programs as I did not want to be short on programs. Personally, I'd rather have extra programs than less as people take extras home to show to their friends or family to those who were invited but unable to attend. I plan on getting our program framed and put some in our keepsake box.

If you're printing them yourself, better to make too many. Some people like to save them and send them to older reletives who could not make it. (Honestly, I've never saved a wedding program but a lot of people do. ) One per couple plus a few extra should be fine. I made almost enough for one per person (130 when 150 attended.) We had extras.
