Purchasing a New Car

Purchasing a New Car

I am wanting to upgrade to a new car this summer, a Honda Civic Hybrid.

our current car is fine and we don't use it that often but I am thinking with the economy being as it is, we might get a good deal on financing. Also, my company will give me 4K for buying a hybrid (minus taxes) but I am worried they may end that program if the economy stays as it is (to cut costs).

DH thinks we should wait another year, our car only has 60,000 miles on it.

Any thoughts?

We bought a new car last month and the financing deals werent the greatest unless you go with a car that offers the low % financing and are approved for it.

We got $8000 off between return lesee (b/c we had a GM lease and bought another GM) and the cash back deal running at the time. The cash back worked out better so we didnt take the low financing (you cant get both in most cases)

Go to edmunds.com to find the deals on each vehicle and what you should pay. It will tell you what deal is best too...cash back or low financing.

Most dealerships were asses and didnt want to even TRY to give us a decent deal. We ended up going with a dealership where my parents and I combined had leased 8 vehicles from and got below invoice (as per the edmunds price). I'm convinced that dealer invoices are padded b/c they dont just give things away at their cost.

Good luck! They say its so easy to get deals and they are giving cars away, but it really is not true at all. My BIL was looking recently and he got the run around from a lot of dealerships. They werent willing to budge.

do you want a hybrid for a specific reason? hybrids are more money than the regular models and only really pay off if you do a lot of highway driving, if most of your driving is around town you will not reap the benefits of a hybrid.

financing right now is a little hard, the rates arent the best because they got a little strict with the credit score approvals.
toyota usually runs some deals though wth 0% financing but more on cars like corollas, matrix...a few trucks like tundras and tacomas.
the car companies are struggling hardcore right now so you would have to really do your research to find a deal

(i work for a company that provides all the dealerships with their leasing and financing info)

i agree, we just bought an 09 crv and had to go to many dealers before we got the price we wanted. they really arent willing to budge, but if you research a good price and have a good credit score I really dont think any time is a bad time to buy a car. just make sure to shop around.
