QOTD 2/12/2003 If you won the Lottery what would you do with the money??

I am talking, winnings by yourself and a lot a lot of money.

Here is what I would do

Fix my church's roof
Do any necessary renovations and improvements that is needed
Pay off my student loans
Fix my g-ma's house in Jamaica
Give to NYCARES children's program
Open a center for women, to assist them with improving their job skills etc.
Open a spa
Give hubby the money to open his dream business
Pay off all debts for my family and friends. Mortgage, CC etc.
Volunteer full time

I know there is a lot more that I would do but I cannot think of it tho'

PS I do not play the Lottery

Build my dream home here and in the Caribbean
Travel, travel, travel

Shamma that is a great question. Here is what I would do:
Buy my parents, godparents and myself & FI and anyone in my family who does not have a house
Buy my parents, myself, my sister and anyone who does not have a car
Pay off all my & FI's debts including student loans
Pay off all my parents and sister's debts
Denote a chuck of it to Diabetes Research
Denote to Cancer Research
Give to my church

Buy a really nice house with the top of the line appliances.

Buy two cars outright for me and frank.

Save enough money to pay for a lavish wedding for my children and to give them enough money for downpayments on new homes for them

Set up a college fund.

Buy my parents a house in Lake George

Buy myself a vacation home in either Hawaii or FL.

Donate money to hospice, ASPCA.. and some other charities..

Live comfortably and happy

Quit my job

Buy a really nice house.

Buy my parents a house

Donate to my church

Donate to charities

Do a tour of the world

stop looking for a job

open a florist or start a wedding planning business

pay off Al's student loans and car payments

put my younger sister through law school

buy a house on the water (and one for my older sister)

buy my in-laws the mercedes they've always wanted

upgrade my parents boat, and send them on a world tour

I have had this planned out for some time

First I would pay off both our student loans and all our debts.

I would buy a block of land in FL (land is very cheap down there)

Build my dream house, and a guest house in the back of ours.

With all the extra land build houses for my friends so we'll be near each other and maybe a lazy river going past all of our houses.

buy us 2 new cars

live happily ever drinking magarita's and sangria while we float in our pool in our house.

Quit my Job

Hook my mom up with whatever she wanted

Oh yeah hubby too

Donate to some of my favorite charities

Take a month long vacation to think about what I would do with my time and money

Buy one modest but comfy house to start with, and then maybe a couple more!!

Set my father up (pay off his house, buy another if he wants to move, buy him a new car)

Set my sister up

Send a my 3 best friends on vacations to the destination of their choice

Buy 2 new cars (1 for DH and 1 for me)-we have 1 6 year old car now with over 100K miles, so we deserve it!

Since I work in the HIV/AIDS field, I'd research more about the programs I currently work with in NYC and make some considerable contributions where it is needed the most. And, I would look into global funds as well, particularly in Africa and India. If I won enough money, I'd actually just start my own foundation.

Other work I would like to do is work with women who are in need, particularly foreign born with little English language skills and with little education, who are in victims of DV, but have no way out.

I've always thought about adopting older children, but I think people need to be in the right position to do so, I think the $$ helps a lot, and I would consider doing this.

This is what I would do......

Quit my job, DH too

Pay off all of our debt, replace our car with 2 new ones.

A new house in the NY/LI area and a vacation house somewhere. I am not sure where though, maybe the Carolina's or further south. But definitely someplace warmer then NY!

Make sure my mother, sister and DH's family are all set up financially (cc, mortgages, etc) and give them all a couple million each so they can retire if they like. We are going to need people to play with

Travel extensively - with any friends or family that would like to join us, out treat of course.

Make donations to the American Cancer Society, Mother Cabrini Hospice, etc.

After seeing the world, go to school for leisure.

Of course I should PLAY lotto if I ever expect this to happen

I would quit my job. But work part time…
I would pay off my mortgage and Sister and BIL mortgage
I would put away money for my Future children’s college fund
I would send my parents and In-laws on a round the world cruise
I would donate money to the Alhizmers foundation to help find a cure
I would donate money to the American Heart Society
I would donate money to help battered and abused women
And I would buy my self-a very nice car!
Oh and I would open my own clothing store to sell tops for women who are not built like a pencil
And I would call it “Just shirts”

Jen your last response takes the cake...Just Shirts, I would come in on that with you and open a section in the store called REAL WOMEN with hips, butt and other necessary parts

I'd buy homes for Patrick and me, my parents, brother and sister, both on Long Island (thinking cold Spring Harbor or Asharoken), and some place tropical.

Donate a hefty sum annually to Little shelter in Huntington.

And of course I'd give some to LIWeddings to keep my favorite hangout up and running!
