I've never posted one before so since I didn't see one I thought I would.
With all the uncertainty in the economy right now where do you see yourself in the next 5 years? has it affected your plan?

Re: QOTD 4/3/09
Hopefully we will either have house or another apartment that has 2 bedrooms. I hope to have had a baby by then also. All we can do is hope for the best and scrimp and save in any way possible!! I do not want the economy to ruin my plans.

Re: QOTD 4/3/09
We hope to own a home, and have one or two babies by that time. DH wants to go to law school but he has a good job right now and wants to try to hold on to it for the next 2 years while the economy is still rocky. After that he would like to work less and get his law degree.
Meanwhile we are on a major savings plan, living like we are broke, but it feels good to see our savings account grow.

Luckily I work in the medical field, and DH works for the LIRR, so we haven't been affected much.

I hope I'll be teaching by then and on my way to tenure! Possibly a child in the picture.

well I think we will be in our coop longer than we thought- we originally would have wanted to look for a house in 5 years, but as long as our family fits in the coop- meaning we only have 1 child, we will probably stay there

i think we might be staying put in our 1 bedroom for a little while longer.. i mean the baby does not really need his/her own room right..

I see myself with 1 or 2 children, possibly living in an apartment still. Looking for a house. Hopefully out of NY!

Re: QOTD 4/3/09
I forgot too respond to my on QOTD...here goes.
In 5 years we'd like to have 1 or 2 kids, and on our way to getting a house. The economy has definitely slowed us down since I was out of work and now I'm just consulting, so I have no permanancy in my career, plus I'm not keen on my career anymore. I also haven't been able to sell my place so we can consolidate to one place and save even more. We were thinking of TTC in Jan. 09 but who know if that will still be the plan.

Re: QOTD 4/3/09
the state of the economy makes me a little nervous - a part of me feels like its a little irresponsible to get pregnant anytime in the near future - but i would like to start trying next year - but if things are worse than they are now i dont think i will want to try anymore - i think it would be selfish and we would be better off to wait until things are more stable....thats jmo though

Re: QOTD 4/3/09
i don't think that the economy has affected our plans all that much in regards to the next 5 years. We really just plan to stay here in Colorado as long as we need to (as Dh finishes school) which should only be another 2 years, but maybe less. After that we wanna go back East. I would LOVE to be back on the Island, but the price of living in NY was terrible even BEFORE the economy got bad. So I think we're leaning towards Pa instead. I want to be no more than a 4 hr drive from my family (but preferably less than 3).
And as for KIDS, the economy hasn't changed anything like that for us. I still want to wait another 2 years just so that we can enjoy our time alone together, but then I definitely want to start our family right away after that 2 year mark. At least, that's how i feel NOW. Things could change of course.

Ideally I would like to have a few children and own a house. We haven't really changes our plans just haven't finalized them. More like taking a wait and see approach in terms of the house purchase.

We haven't been effected, but one never knows so fingers crossed we won't be. Five years I see us with a child...maybe two.{{godwilling}}..I would like to have sold our condo and be living in a house, but again with this economy I don't know, I am happy we made the decision to buy a 2 bdrm condo so there is no rush to sell when we have a baby

Thankfully we haven't been affected by the economy jobwise-we still have our jobs- but then again DH wants a better job with a different atmosphere and more responsibility (read: more $$ lol) and he is a little nervous to leave his current one bec of the economy. But in 5 years we hope to have sold our co-op, finished the updating on the house, and maybe one baby....and at least ONE more meow !!!!!!!!!!!
