If there was a chance you had a long lost sibling would you want to know about them?

Re: QOTD***********4/2
hmmm this is a sticky question for me and may even sound harsh.
After my parents separated my father had 2 children with another woman who he was never interested in. (i know - wierd) anyway she moved away somewhere and I have absolutely no interest in knowing or seeing her children. My brothers and sisters feel the exact same way.

Have these other siblings tried to connect with you?

No, I know they contacted my father once because they wanted to meet him. He met them and told us about it but thats as far as it went.

ehhh, honestly, i dont know.....that would be kind of weird and im not sure if id want to meet them - what if i didnt like them and then i was obligated to keep in touch with them since they are a 'sibling' - sounds mean but i dont know how comfortable i would be with meeting someone like that it could be life changing KWIM?
my grandma actually found out she had a half sister a few years ago - she found her online on one of those genealogy (sp?) sites.....turns out my grandmas dad had another daughter! my grandma never knew about her.......they met, traded stories about their dad (my great grandpa) - my grandma didnt find out she had a sister until she was like 65!

Yes I would want to know. My dad is adopted and I always wonder when what his biological family looks like.

I can completely understand this. My uncle found some cousins that he never knew and has met them and keeps in touch with some. But I always wonder that what happens if the family doesn't want to be found?

Yes. I remember when my parents told me and my sister that my father had been previously married. My first question was if I had a brother or another sister
Same with me! I had found out about 10 yrs ago that my father was married once before he met my mom. I also asked if there was any other siblings out there but there was not. He wasnt with her very long at all

Re: QOTD***********4/2
No.
When my grandfather died someone said 'did anyone call his son' and I was shocked and devastated that for 10 years when he was working in Venezuela sending money back to Italy, he had a relationship with another woman while he was married to my grandmother. It made me REALLY sad. My mom and aunt do not know their brother. I would want nothing to do with anyone else besides my 3 sisters.
Sorry, JMO.

Yes. But I think it would be hard to establish a close bond like I have with my sisters that grew up in my house.
Agreed. It would be like a familiar stranger thing
