qu for the bare mineral girls... (tried it, another qu)

im gonna use bare minerals for first time today, so any tips on how you apply it? i mean i read the how to/watched a little video clip online, but do you all have any tips of things that you have found to work better?

i read somewhere that some ppl apply the mineral veil beforehand too.

is it okay to use my regular moisturizer beforehand?

i usually use a cream concealer? should i not use that today and try to conceal w/ the minerals? i have herendous skin so im hoping to get the best coverage.

i'm not a fan of the mineral veil myself---it doesn't look right on my face.

i use a concealer from bare minerals -- its a multipurpose powder--summer bisque--with the concealer brush under my eyes. then i just apply the foundation. they do sell a vitamin enriched type of moisturizer but i just use my usual one. but i do use their Prime Time -- face primer to help the foundation stay on.

it really is just as easy to apply as the videos. when starting out -- just remember, less is more with this stuff. when you swirl into the cap and tap off the excess...you shouldn't really see the makeup on the brush...and just apply the foundation in a 'buffing' motion all over your face.

i'm quite a fan of it--it feels very light and airy and not nearly as heavy as creams and such that can crease and crack

yeah--it sounds like a lot. but it works nicely for my coverage. i have HORRENDOUS dark spots under my eyes. sometimes i skip the prime time -- its good but not a necessity

For me I use a mosturizer either Camille Beckman or Oil of Olay.
Then I put on the bisque under my eyes and any other spots I do not like. I found using the Kotobuki brush for everything works best. I use medium beige, the bronzer and then mineral veil. I do not use their blush and I use other eye make up. It is light on the face for sure.

i usually put on my regular cetaphil moisturizer, then smashbox primer, then laura mercier tinted moisterizer...

then (like MJ said) buff on the 'medium' powder... add some blush and voila!

I use bare minerals - just the concealer, the foundation and the blush... what does the mineral veil do?

you use the concealer brush that comes in the starter kit--you just have to purchase the bisque separately.

okay jess here we go...

first: Skin Rever Upper is NOT a moisturizer...it actually gets applied under a moisturizer. It's a vitamin prep, but it's loaded with glycolic and salsylic acid...so it's main thing is to clean out the pores & exfoliate. a lot of people are fooled by this because it looks like a moisturizer, but it's not! if ur skin agrees with it, use it FIRST, and then moisturize.

secondly: if you have oily skin, Primetime is not for you. It's AWESOME if u have combo to dry, but because of the silica in it, it's not reccomended for oily types. it'll actually roll off the oil & such & is just not fun! it'll actually have the opposite effect of a primer and 'cause beading and sliding...

this is my routine:

1) do all ur prep; make sure the skin is good and dry(no buffing minerals on tacky skin!)

2) use a pea size amount of ur foundation and REALLY swirl up the product untill it's all gone. press in & really swirl, because the swirling actually gets the minerals heat activated which provides the smoothest finish.

3) when u buff the face, start from the outside in, so ur nose & apple(cheek) area is last. by this time, the minerals are good and heated & won't pool into the pores..also - pressing in & doing CIRCULAR motions are key...no sweeping!!

4) conceal where u want...honestly, i prefer useing my foundation with the concealer brush as opposed to the bisques..also, pat where u want the concealer first, then always finish with the buffing circles or pressed in strokes...

5) do a second layer of foundation with ur kabuki brush...not only are u adding coverage, but ur blending everything smooth...

so u do foundation, conceal, then foundation.

THEN do ur warmth...always with the flawless face brush...and think the letter 'E' on the face(up the cheek bones, above the eye area & down the jaw line..again - buffing)...

do ur veil after warmth..

Radiance I always to last for maximum highlight & sheen...(not sure if ur kit has the radiance in it - sephora & ulta kits dont include it).

...also, anytime u feel like the warmth or blush is too prominent just soften it up with mineral veil...also, keep the veil on u throughout the day..anytime u get oily dust it over - it'll balance everything but on the surface of the skin (so no cakey-ness or clogging) and it'll keep everything in tact...

jess - also, DEFINETLY get 'summer' bisque....i prefer it over the bisque..and it's tailored more for redness...

also, which kit did u get?? if u got the medium kit, stick to Medium beige...medium is a really cool tone...

okay, so yesterday i just did my regular moisturizer, i forgot to do the skin rever upper before. ill do it today.

primetime, good to know, won't use it today. used it yesterday and i have oily skin!!

i was def sweeping along with circular motion, and i was using alot more than pea size!! lol bc i felt like it wasnt covering.

i tried the foundation w/ concealer brush yesterday but it didn't cover great and left me looking kind of uneven even when i did a little overall brushing over it. so i think ill order summer bisque today to try.

i don't have radiance..do u suggest it?

i love the radiances....'warm' radiance is my favorite :) infact i believe u commented on my myspace pic with it! I use (on top of my foundation) Faux Tan, and then Flowers along with Beauty Blush, and then i do a little warm radiance on top.

the radiances add a glow to the face....think suttle shimmer/dewy :) i just put a little on the highpoints of my cheeks & my nose

also, be careful with the rever upper...i have every skin issue known to man & love it(feel like it brightens me), but some people find they break out from the glycolic - so watch it carefully!

aside from everything, it just takes getting used to and learning like anything else! give it a few days, play around, and see what works for u. If u're anywhere near kind of prussia mall I know they have a boutique there...Del Ray is the manager...and i hear there are a few girls there that are very talented...

yea, i think i just need to keep playing around with it and find what works for me bc it was kind of a nightmare yesterday, lol.i really appreciate all the tips. and hopefully, like it has for you, it will even help my skin. you look great!! KOP is very close so i can always pop in there if i need help too.

I also have a question - what does the mineral veil do? I use the foundation, concealer and warmth - how would the mineral veil look different?

I use a cream concelor with it. As i find that it barely covers up enough where I need concealor. And you can use ur own moistuizor- itll be fine.
