queens girls - name change in jamaica ?

think its about time i go and do it!! been having separation anxiety .. - lol

i looked on line and it says to go to the office in jamaica for NY metropolitan residents..

i was thinking about getting there before they open and waiting in line so i dont have to take a day off from work.. or getting there on their late night at 5ish.. dont know which will be worse!!

if you went there, how long did it take you and what time did you go?

TIA!

I went on a Friday afternoon and it took about 2 hours on line. I had already had the paperwork filled out. Waiting on line is killer. Bring a book. Parking is very very hard to find and it is all meter parking. Mine expired but thank God I didn't get a ticket. Good luck!!!

you have to go to the one in jamaica its the new card center so they are issuing all the cards. I honestly would just park in a garage around here there is one on Parson's and one on the next block which is 160th street.

i think early in the morning would be the best idea.

if you have any more questions just let me know, i work there!

I would still expect to wait 2-3 hours unfortunately ( hey dont blame me, i work upstairs )

Tilde if I went at 7 when they open, do you know if there's already a line outside or if I can just get there at 7 and just walk right in and be seen?

i went mid-afternoon on a weekday & i was honestly in and out within a 1/2 hour - 40 minutes...dont' know if i just lucked out or what, but they were pretty quick! there was a pretty long line, but they moved so quickly due to the large amount of tellers they had...

good luck!

same here - only I went around 11ish .. after going early to the one in Forest Hills to find out that they dont issue cards I took the day off, parked in the lot, and then went to the DMV which is like 5-6 blocks away... so you can get both done and over with in one day. The SS experience was awesome - there was 15 tellers open! (and I tried to go to the one on 2rd ave since its close to my job - and i left 2x after waiting for an hour BOTH times .. and it was when they opened!!!! )
