IF someone just planted 1000.00 in your hand, what would you do with it?
I'm having this debate with my husband b/c his father just sold his house and is giving DH & SIL $1000.00 each.
DH wants to just put it towards his bills.. He has a little CC debt, but nothing we can't pay off if we're consistent.
*I* think we should invest it. When are we ever going to come across $1000.00 like that out of the blue that DOESN'T have to go towards something, you know?
We have nothing saved (aside from Aidan's college savings and even that isn't much)

Re: $ question
I am on the same boat but I am the one coming into money. I decided to pay down some household debt we have and then put the rest in my ING savings which always has an awesome interest rate.
I suggest the ING account because I found no other bank that doesn't come close to them with their savings accounts.

Re: $ question
I'd pay off debt, which is exactly what we're doing with our stimulus rebate.

Re: $ question
We're debt phobic, so I would probably credit or in our case, apply it to our home equity line of credit. I used to like to stick any money I had in the bank, but DH is all about getting rid of any debt, which will then allow you to save more in future.
