Question....

Question....

If you had come to this board and read some of the posts, on the Brides side, to the new people, would you have stuck around??? It seems that if you have less than 100 posts everyone assumes that you are a vendor or a kid here for a good time! I have read the posts by some of these ladies and can not assume that they are not real brides looking for advice.

And if they are kids, or vendors - do not respond and they will get bored and go away.

It just seems to me that everyone is very suspicious of new posters. Hey...we all started at newbies, right?!?!?

Re: Question....

I have never seen the brides be impolite to anyone who comes online with a question. Its the new people who give a glowing endorsement with no indication of reality. Personally, I think its important that a response be made so that people doing searches in the future aren't duped by the post.

I did say the one bride's post read like an ad- it does. But I don't think she is a vendor- she might have taken the info from their site to post.

Re: Question....

There have been a few 'new' members today talking about Duet photography which absolutely reeks of BS to me.

A new bride doesnt start their posting with 'i have a great vendor for you...', they come her for advice about who/where/when. Some vendors think brides are so stupid.

I have not participated on those threads b/c I just wish they would fade into the woodwork but I dont blame the brides to be for getting angry.

I definitely agree with what everyone else has already said.

However, I just want to add an observation...I think the whole 'pounce on the newbies' mentality really got it's own life b/c of the site redesign and the fact that everyone's screen name is now assigned a certain status, like Newbie, Addict...etc.

These problems weren't as rampant back during the days before everyone's number of posts were visable below their screen name. JMO.

Re: Question....

good point claud...

but I do remember michele being accused of not being a bride...before they had you # of posts on the side...but in her profile she had 1000!!!

LOL...there's always been some tension, but I think there are now so many more members and therefore more butting opinions...

I agree with Claud. I also think a lot of people are driven by their 'status', and sometimes post things that aren't necessary just to boost their post number. (not everyone, just some people) I think if we just ignore things, they'll die out a lot more quickly than if we keep the thread at the top of the board by adding more and more junk to it. *ducking out of the way of the tomatoes being thrown in my direction*

Like would this be consider upping my post count. Hey there all, just adding to the thread with nothing to say, just trying to up my post count.

I must say that I find it funny when your first post sound like an ad, I will give you a chance, I usually ask for more details. Whatever anyone's status on here, it does not make them any more important no matter what it says under their name. There are 2 owners of this board ROn and Liz, we are just non-paying contributors to the community. I guess having a title below your username is an insentive but there is no reward at the end of the day. I genuinely love being here and so do a lot of others.

Oy! I knew what I had to say wouldn't sound right. I definitely do not mean you, Shamma. Many of your posts are very helpful, you always seem to post threads with helping brides in mind. It just seems as though recently, a lot of people have a lot to say about nothing. Nothing wrong with it, it just gets old quickly.
Also, I agree, when these ladies come on here, and start posting glowing recommendations for certain vendors, it seems very fishy. I just think we should handle it differently.

Re: Question....

The 'Duet' newbies today have gotten out of hand and will only make it worse for the 'true' newbies.

I guess everyone should go with their own instincts and respond to the posts they want to.
