So I received monetary and actual gifts before my wedding. Instead of sending out thank you's as they came, I decided to do it all at once. I was hesitant about this but my mother convinced me that people understand and usually expect TY's after the wedding. Was that rude that I didn't send TY's yet to people who gave BEFORE the wedding??
I usually am so on top of this type of stuff. I had my TY's for my shower out two days later.

Re: Question about acknowledging gifts
I sent out Ty's for gifts as I received them. I don't think it was rude of you to wait, though.

Re: Question about acknowledging gifts
I would have forgotten to send the TYs if I waited to send them all together. When someone gave me a gift (before the wedding) I sent a TY right away.
You're not wrong to do it all at once, it's actually a smart idea. The people will probably be glad they're getting a TY after the wedding because then they'll get a picture (if you send them one )

Re: Question about acknowledging gifts
If the gifts were sent out really early - like a few months before our wedding, then they received a thank you note when we received the gift. But because I was studying for the bar exam by July I stopped sending the thank you notes and just waited until after we returned from our HM. I got all the thank you notes out within 2 months of the wedding. I think as long as your actually write a note within 6 months of your wedding date you are fine.

Re: Question about acknowledging gifts
I sent them out as they came except if they came within the month of the wedding. I'm sending another thank-you to some of the family & friends that sent a gift and didn't make the wedding - just so they can get a pic of us. But, your mom is right - people understand. If you are having second thoughts about having done it that way, maybe write in the thank you a brief 'sorry it's taken a while but we were swamped planning our big day...'
