Question for 11/13/02

This is a sad thought but, at what point do we stop being Newlyweds and move into the 'old married couple' category?!?!?

Please someone tell me that its after like 20 years of marriage!!!

Are you suggesting that LIWeddings should make yet another board!?? 'Old Married Couples'?

I may be old , but we plan on being Newlyweds for at least another year!!

I think we were an old married couple before we even got married!

I know that sounds funny since we definitely are newlyweds in the strict sense but I dont think being the 'old married' couple is a bad thing. I think it means we love and trust each other as if we have been together forever.

All 'new' couples look in love but isnt it the cutest thing when you really do see an old married couple (I mean really old) that are still in love?

My grandparents were the cutest little old couple. So in love...like they just got married. I hope my marriage stays like that!

Newlyweds or old married couples...it doesn't really matter. As long as we're still in love and enjoying time with each other. That's what really counts.

I can't wait to be an old married couple, that is still so in love with each other. It is truly wonderful to see an old married couple, still holding hands and doing for each other and looking at each other with that look of a newlyweds. I want that to be me and my hubby. I am enjoying the newlywed status indeed.

SonicStef - I looked at the post earlier today and said exactly the same thing myself. I got married on Oct 26 but since we have been dating so long and living together life hasn't changed at all. Many of our friends had already considered us married!

But if you consider an old married couple as someone routine and boring that is not us. We are always up for something and planning events for us and our friends! We don't feel old at all but we do see many of our friends falling into that routine! It scares us! I don't ever want to be like that not now at 30 or later at 60!

At my wedding we did the anniversary dance and we had 4 couples married over 50 years. 3 of which were 55+. It was so cute to see that and they all looked so loving.
