Planning comment

'That money must be killing you.' (referrring to the amount of money we were spending on our wedding)

My answer - 'no, we are within our budget'

Answer I wished I had given - Since you are not paying for my wedding, don't worry about it.

Comment during the wedding'

'This is my friend, next time you will have to invite him'

My answer - OH

Answer I wish I had given:
Hello, this is my wedding. I am not hoping for another one (or at least not on my wedding day). Moreover, I don't think it is apropriate for me to invite someone else's husband as your guest to my wedding. If there is a next time, neither you nor your guest will be invited

After the wedding:

You've gained some weight, you sure you're not pregnant.

My answer - No, we are enjoying being married at the moment.

Answer I wish I had given: It none of your business.

Re: Question for 10/15

The comment my hubby made when we went for our marriage license was priceless, after we got the license and we were leaving he said 'why spend all this money when we can get married for $35, and get the guy waiting out front to take the pix, he even had a bo-k He called it one stop shopping.

Then there were the people who made the comment about how rich we were, these people I did not think deserved an explanation b/c you do not know what we are sacrificing to pay for this. Or there were those who was bold enough to ask the cost. My look said it all, what you plan on paying??

I think weddings and funerals bring out the worst in some people.

Shamma that is hilarious that the guy outside had the bo-k too.

You are right about funerals and weddings.

Re: Question for 10/15

one of my gifts to my bm was the jewelry set they would wear on the day....after i finally found a set i loved, one of them said, 'make sure the earrings are not the dangling kind because they don't look good on me'

i said 'don't worry about it, they are the small kind'.

what i wish i had said, 'seeing as how i am dealing with 6 bm- each with their own tastes, you will excuse me if i don't take what looks best on YOU into account'

Question:
'Don't you know that July 4th is a big holiday? People always have BBQ's and parties to go to.'
Answer I gave:
'If you or anyone else can find a better party to go to on July 4th, then go right ahead!!'
Answer I wish I had given:
'And you can please stay home!!!'

This was said by one of my husbands (he, he! I still like the way that still sounds weird to me!!) friends! And he was going to be asked to be a groomsmen! He was asked and actually kept telling my husband he wasn't sure.... What does that mean!!? Some friend! He actually never really said yes, went 5 days before the wedding to be measured for a tux!!! Talk about stress!!

Re: Question for 11/15

'My husband won't let me drive alone on a holiday'\
\
This from my cousin- whose daughter was supposed to be in my bridal party....and after many many suggestions from me on how she can manage to drive 2 hours to come to our special day. Including hitching a ride w/ her sis who was DEF coming and driving up from Virginia. ( whose son was supposed to b in our bridal party too!)

Guess what- her sis (my godmother) wasn't coming either! and had not told me yet.

Response when I spoke to another fam member: 'well you aren't too close to them anyway'
No? Funny I remember being the one who always drove the 2 hours down to NJ to see THEM?

My response' Thats not completly true and besides isnt it Weddings and Funerals that are SUPPOSED to bring families together???

Re: Question for 11/15

My fabulous mother-in-law....

When we told her we got engaged 'oh-I thought you were going to wait until Xmas'. We had been together 8 years before we got engaged and my husband surprised me in November because I expected a ring for Xmas.

And when we were planning, I took my mother and my MIL to a showcase at our catering hall. There were florists there with all sorts of centerpieces. We were looking at a centerpiece that ran about $35- nothing fancy-some greenery, baby's breath and a couple of carnations and daisies. And she says 'Wow- 35$ is a lot- I'll bet they could scale it down a whole lot' And I thought 'to what- a carnation in a vase?????'
