How do you clean them? With a vacuum or a broom? If you use a broom do you have an electric one? Do you like it? What brand is it?
I am really struggling with this I have been using a regular broom and I feel like my floors are still dirty! Please Help! Thanks!

Re: Question for Newlyweds with Hardwood Floors?
We have one of those mop things with the terry cloth thing that can be removed ( i know i'm not explaining it! lol) but we spray hard wood floor cleaner all over, then mop it up with this terry thing. Then we can wash the terry cloth.
Just to vacuum we have a part on our vacuum that is very gentle to vacuum the floor. I hear you have to be careful because it scratches easily.

I sweep and then mop. Use a regular broom.
Ive been eyeing those fancy vacuum/steam mop things but from teh commercials it seems ilke it would take way more time.

Re: Question for Newlyweds with Hardwood Floors?
I sweep and vacuum (I have a puppy who drags dirt in constantly).
I wash the floors with vinegar and water - also a big fan of the swiffer products.
Wow, I sound really anal LOL!!!!

Good question. I should be embarrassed to say I have NO IDEA. Hubby does them. I will ask him

I vacuum them. I mop them every other week. On the weeks I mop them, I will go over it with the swiffer duster. Im a neat freak

Re: Question for Newlyweds with Hardwood Floors?
I use the 'bare floor' settting on my vaccum.
Then mop with water/vinegar combo. But swifter now makes a hardwood floor wet cloth with the water/vinegar ingredients. I tried that last time and it worked really well and was much easier than a bucket of water....

Re: Question for Newlyweds with Hardwood Floors?
i find that vacuuming doesn't pick up all the dust and dog hair. i use a regular broom then use the dry swiffer, then the wet swiffer (actually the clorox brand that shoots out the cleaner).

Re: Question for Newlyweds with Hardwood Floors?
I do both use the Swiffer and have a vacumn that is usable on hardwood floors. I hate brooms and mops are too messy and old fashioned.

I'm planning on getting the swiffer wet jet. I take it that's safe to use on hard wood floors??

Re: Question for Newlyweds with Hardwood Floors?
My DH LOVES doing the floors. No joke! He sweeps, then mops with warm water and Murphy's oil soap. About every three months we put on a mop on shine coat from Costco. Can't remember the name but it makes the floors look great.

Re: Question for Newlyweds with Hardwood Floors?
We have the Hoover Floor Mate, its great for mopping as you dont have to lug around the bucket, etc. We have a lot of rooms w. HW floors so thats the best for me.
But, I do find it really heavy. Pushing that thing around is a workout!! For everyday cleaning, I use the swiffer dry or a hoover broomvac.
Honestly, DH brought the floormate, but in retrospect its very pricey ($170) and you can get almost the same results with a broomvac and then the swiffer wet. My ideal cleaning method is cleaning lady, I hope to have that soon

Re: Question for Newlyweds with Hardwood Floors?
I vacuum and then swifer. Every two months or so, I wash them on my knees ... talk about Cinderella.
