Question for the teachers on here
I know these may be stupid questions but bare with me lol. During your student teaching, when you taught a lesson, do you actually read from the lesson plan, memorize it. Like the first lesson you were observed teaching, what did you do? Also, for how many weeks and when were you teaching an entire day? Were you then required to write formal lesson plans for every lesson every day, or were you just teaching your cooperating teacher's lessons. I'm doing my teaching half the semester in one grade and the other half in another, so do you do this full day teaching in both grades or just one? I'm sure this may vary from school to school though...

Re: Question for the teachers on here
I did my student teaching from January to June. I had to write lessons every day. I did my student teaching in a high school and I taught two classes every day. Usually I just had my lesson plan in front of me. Now that I'm a real teacher I put up an agenda with all the different things we're going to do - do now, mini lesson, work period etc so I have something to do on. Hope this helps!

Re: Question for the teachers on here
when i did my student teaching, i did half the semester in 1st grade and the second half in 4th grade. for like the first week in both grades, i did observing and just a couple lessons here and there to get used to the students and the schedule of the classroom. then i started doing full day teaching and the teacher would give me her agenda, but then i would put my own spin on it and teach the lessons my way. but i wouldnt have my lesson plan in front of me when i was up there teaching. i guess i memorized it and just knew what i wanted to say.

Re: Question for the teachers on here
im crashing, but figured i might be able to helpi eased into things during my 1st placement, and always wrote the aim/do-now on the board from my lessons, so that helped. other than that, i do memorize them, or at least know what i need to hit on each class..i taught 3 classes my 1st placement and 4 my 2nd..i tried to keep a piece of paper at first, but was told that i used it as a crutch, and it went away after about a week lol
i STILL write formal lesson plans every day, for every class i teach-so i had two preps last year, wrote 2 formal lesson plans every single day..but when i re-teach things, they're all there and i don't have to do anything for them.
