Question for verizon wireless users

Question for verizon wireless users

we have the family plan. dh never really uses his phone though and I think we have 700 minutes combined, and we use like 350 between the two of us. he got a tracfone to use for his side business and since he uses the other one so infrequently (as in, when I tell him, make sure your phone is on so i can reach you - and he hardly ever remembers), I was thinking of cancelling his other phone, on the verizon plan, and lowering my plan to the very basic one (400 min per month).

does anyone know if cancelling one line on a plan is considered 'breaking the contract'? or is considered changing it? I know you can change the plan - it just extends your contract - but if i remove him before our two year contract is up (i think it's up in september) - does that constitute breaking the contract??

TIA. I keep meaning to call verizon but i forget when I am not at work, and I can't do it AT work.

I had Verizon before, but never had to do this. My guess is that each phone has it's own contract. If you need to drop one, regardless of it being on a family plan or not, you will have to pay the penalties as you would for one phone.

I just checked other plans and verizon's seems like one of the best one - the 450 min for $39.00. at & t and others have the same plan and tmobile has one for 200 mins I think but I do not know if that's enough ... 400 or so is perfect for me... and honestly i've been pretty happy with my service ever since getting them - i would hate to switch and have crappy service. if i have to wait a few months before lowering the cost, i will ...
