Question - how would you react or what would you think?

Question - how would you react or what would you think?

You and your DH invite a group of friends over and one couple never gives a definitive answer, saying that they may or may not come, they're not sure and this is only after you ask them specifically again just a couple of days before the day.

How would you react and/or what would you think/feel?

Edited for details.

Hmm ok sooo...

we're focusing onnot the flakey friend who needs a ride but the semi-self involved ones that seem to be holding out to see if something better comes along before they agree to spend time with you? Gotcha...

To play Devil's advocate, I would say the flakey girl...cut her slack because you KNOW she tends to be a flake and I am assuming despite this character flaw (that would PISS the fawk out of me) you love her anyway. So love need to accept her the way she is and of she comes awesome. if not, you knew what to expect.

As far as the other couple though, yes I would be annoyed. I mean it really seems like the plans to see you and Luis were far down on their priority list and they were waiting to see if whatever was at the top worked out before they said yes or not.

Pete and I have actually given people that story before; the 'We don't know if we can make it yest.' BUT...BIG BUT (like my Puertorican @ss ) its always from the getgo. As soon as we get invited, if we had possible other plans, we tell them upfront so they dont rely on us. and I always ALWAYS make sure to get back to them a few days before th event because HELLO, maybe THEY want to do something else if we decide to bail. its called being three things:

1. Polite
2. Respectful of time
3. A GOOD friend.

They are deinetly being a little selfish and all and I'd be annoyed because they are sorta holding up any alternative plans you could make. Unfortunately if you say that they may get huffy and bail anyway. its a double edged situation...

Maybe just send her an email tomorrow or call her cell and say in a cheerful voice.. 'Hey so-and-so, Just doing a final head count. Lett me know by tonight what you're planning on doing. If you can't make it, no prob. we'll try for another day.'

Actually..send both..email AND cell message because that way should one mysteriously not be recieved, the other will and you covered your bases if you decide to make alternative plans.

What are these people going to give you an hours notice of they can come or not. I'll let you know does not count as a response. I would just assume they will not be coming. The couple that said yes I would call them to confirm the plans now and take their word for coming. If they say they are still coming maybe mention the person who needs a lift. If when you call to confirm they suddenly are not sure I would cancel the whole thing all together go out with DH and have a great night with him.

I would also invite me since I will go out of my way to come and have a great time.

Sorry some people stink at appreciating how hard people work at putting a nice night together

that would stinks---i am the type that wants to know DEFINITES if you are coming--if something comes up last minte---then okay i understand. but the whole 'don't count on me--but i should be there' drives me ape$hit.

i would be a little perturbed by the whole thing.

i have no advice---just understanding!

I would send out another email asking who's definitely in so you know how much food to make. I do think it is ridiculous that they haven't given you an answer!!

agreed.. its a tough one..

i'd probably call/email saying something to the effect that your going out to get stuff for saturday so you need to know whos in..
and if its still well i'm not sure then i would honestly cancel and do my own thing..

Thanks everyone. I feel very ... I don't know... upset? Sad? Frustrated? Maybe a combination of the three.

I just feel like they have no real desire to come over. I have no problem with someone not being able to make it - but be honest. In the past, I had another good friend of mine over with her BF and we had a nice night. Same with yet another friend, her DH, and their baby. I guess not everyone is as interested in coming over to hang, lol.

I HATE when people do this!! This happened to us 2 weeks ago when one of DH friends and his wife never answered us so I said to DH - I guess M & C aren't coming over!!!
I think its rude......just answer, yes I would love to or no I have plans or no I don't feel like it - maybe another time!

i'd get new friends

kidding! ugh it would annoy me to pieces. if i was getting such uncertain responses from my dear friends () i'd just give up and plan something fun with DH instead...but that's just me and i tend to give up ...but seriously? it would annoy me and i would snap...i'd yell at them for being so careless about other people's TIME. what do they think? you're hanging around all day waiting for them to party? GAWD!
