Question on touching up enlargements & album pics

Question on touching up enlargements & album pics

My photographer's contract indicates that the only touch ups they'll do for my enlargements and album pics are flashbacks (in mirrors) and exit signs. I didn't think much of this at the time we booked, but now I'm wondering if this is normal?

Are your photographers airbrushing out or digitally removing small imperfections?

One example is with one of my deck shots - it's taken at night overlooking the water, and there are 2 distant lights that were so small you could barely see them in the proof - when the pic is blown up it's obvious and now they're annoying me! LOL When I asked if they can be removed they said not without me paying a lot of $$ for them....

This pic is also going in the album.....

Thanks

teri...i think this is normal...but I assumed it as well...when I told my sister (who used to work for a studio) she said no way...you have to pay for it...

I would try to put it out of your mind

Its not in my contract but I think my photographer would do it for me since its only one thing but who knows.

Will he allow you to fix the photo yourself and then print out the digital file? If its two small lights, that should be very easy to fix on your own but your photographer has to be willing to work with you.

I had a few things I needed removed from pictures (eg my ring bearer had a bottle in one of the pics). There were I think 3 that he touched up at no extra charge.

I think they touched up some things in my album too, cropped out the photographers head in the reflection of the mirror but obviously their fault and there was no charge to me for any of that. I thought most photogs are digital these days anyway and touching up pics was the way of the world to do things (I do it at work and it is so extremely easy), it almost gets me mad they would charge you for that Teri!!

What's so annoying is that you realize how much you've spent on everything - then wonder how hard would it really be to correct a few small details?

Stef - I wouldn't be comfortable correcting anything myself - I don't have any decent software or anything....maybe I'll speak to the owner again, but not sure they'll budge on this one - just wanted to see what was normal.....

Sorry, I havent needed to retouch anything as of yet so I cant say for sure.

If your photographer agrees and I can do it, I will touch it up for you. I dont know what the problem is exactly so i cant say I can fix it but if I can, I have no problem doing it. Just email me.

thanks so much for offering Stef.

I don't know - Maybe I'm making a bigger deal about it, but these small dots are annoying me! I'm going to try and speak with the owner directly to see if they can touch it up.....it just seems that it wouldn't take too long to do themselves.

Mark Kaufman has touched up an enlargement for me and didn't charge me at all. A large photo on my parent's wall was in some of my favorite shots and he airbrushed it (not digital either) it out for me in the enlargement. I would think that at the photographer would want his/her best work showing on your wall since that is the best form of advertising!

Personally, I feel it depends on what photographer you are dealing with, how they do business and whether or not they care about a client walking away happy with the service they provided or not. Some just want to get their money and after your big day it is like too bad for you. If they dont care (like the photographer I used), you will probably have to live with it or go somewhere to have it fixed.

Terri, now looking at one of my pix that is already in my album I wish I had asked to have it airbrushed to cover something, I am probably the only one that notices but hey I am the bride Call and see what they say. A friend of mine had her mom's legs re-touched b/c she was wearing knee hi's and in one of the formal pix her dress rode up and showed the knee hi and her photographer brushed it at no cost.
