Question re: Money and E-Ring on Vacations
Rob and I are leaving on Saturday for our trip to Hawaii. We are unsure of the amount and the type of currency to bring. We usually bring a combo of traveler's checks, cash and a credit card, but for this trip we are a bit hestitant. Our thinking is that there are a lot of ATMs in Hawaii to get cash when it's needed. So my question is this: When vacationing, do you bring cash, traveler's checks, or mainly use your credit card?
Also ... do you wear your e-ring or just your band?
Thanks much!

Re: Question re: Money and E-Ring on Vacations
I wear my ering pretty much everywhere. The only time i would take it off is if were going someplace very unfamiliar like China, Russia, South Africa, etc..Since Hawaii is just another state, its no different than wearing it in NY (at least in my mind).
When i travel in the US and in Europe, i bring a few hundred dollars in cash and my ATM and my credit cards. I never use travellers checks since there are fees involve and never found them useful.

Re: Question re: Money and E-Ring on Vacations
You are right. It is very easy to get money in Hawaii (and there was only $1 fee) We used our CC a lot for the things that we did. We went with about $500 cash and then DH took out a few more hundred. The rest we used CC.I wore my ering the whole trip, except one day (don't remember what activity we did). There are safes in the room so no need to worry
Have fun!!!!

Re: Question re: Money and E-Ring on Vacations
I wear my e-ring everywhere too-its insured & my wedding band is a little loose so I need it on.As far as currency, I would bring my debit card, maybe two hundred dollars in cash.
I don't like travelers checks.
I would also think that Hawaii is just another state when it comes to getting money.
Have a GREAT time Cira!

Re: Question re: Money and E-Ring on Vacations
currency: dollars
We had enough cash with us, but relied on a few ATMs too.
We didn't use any travelers checks.
I wear my ering everywhere - it is fully ensured, although I'd be devastated if I ever lost it. I just think it's safer with me

Re: Question re: Money and E-Ring on Vacations
When we go to places that have ATMS, we usually bring some cash (200-300) and use ATM's and credit cards for the rest of expenses. I don't bring my E-ring to any vacations where I will either be doing sports or swimming, simply b/c I don't want it to be stolen from a hotel or even from a hotel safe...Edited to say that although my ring is insured, I would never want to lose it via being less than careful on my vacations.

As for the E-ring, wear it everywhere....it's insured so I don't worry too much!

Re: Question re: Money and E-Ring on Vacations
We usually bring some cash and our cards.I never wear my e-ring anywhere I would be swimming! Or participating in any sport for that matter. Just to ease my mind and really enjoy the activities instead of constantly checking if my ring is still there, if the diamond popped out. (I am always imagining awful things like that) Even if it is insured, if the ring is lost no matter what money I would get in return, that original ring will be gone forever!
Whatever you decide, enjoy you vacation!

Re: Question re: Money and E-Ring on Vacations
Enjoy your vacation!I have always been afraid of bringing my e ring on vacations. I do bring it, but always have it on me, even at the pool. I would be afraid to even leave it in the safe in the room. It is just how I feel.
Have fun! Where are you staying?

Re: Question re: Money and E-Ring on Vacations
I wore my e-ring to Hawaii. I didn't wear it to Costa Rica on our honeymoon though (didn't know how safe I'd feel). We never use travelers checks - just atms and credit cards. We didn't even take out extra money for this last trip - just hit up atms whenever needed (our bank reimburses ATM fees, so they're not an issue).

Re: Question re: Money and E-Ring on Vacations
I'm sure you'll be fine with a few hundred cash, your ATM card, and a credit card.If you're the type of person who would spend your vacation worrying about the ring, leave it home. Otherwise, wear it! (When I say that I'm assuming it's insured.)
Have a great time!

Re: Question re: Money and E-Ring on Vacations
I didn't wear my e-ring or diamond band on my HM since we went to South Africa and Zimbawae. But I would wear it in Hawaii without a second thought, unless you love the water. Then I wouldn't even want to think about it and I would leave it home.I bring a mix of cash and traveler's checks- but my best friend works at a bank and I get them for free. I also use credit and get the miles!

Re: Question re: Money and E-Ring on Vacations
Cira - have fun!! I always travel with credit cards and cash. Hate the hassle of travelers checks. As far as your rings, go ahead and wear them. I miss wearing mine now. My fingers are too swollen and they don't fit
