Question to keep the boards moving...

If you own something that DH hates, would you get rid of it?
Also, if you want to buy something that DH doesn't like, would you still buy it?

I ask because I only wear Skechers sneakers and DH just confessed to me that he hates them~every single pair I have, even my Skechers sandals. So, he bought me two pairs of Nike, and I'm sort of looking at my Skechers a little differently

would i get rid of something he doesn't like? no.

would i not buy something he doesn't like? depends on what it is and why he doesn't like it. for example if there's a dress i want to buy to wear to somethign we're going to together and he thinks it's hideously ugly, i won't buy it. he has very good taste, and i value his opinion on that stuff.

I had a pair of pajama pants that he HATED. Honestly, they were really fug and part of the reason why I liked them was because he hated them so much.

I ceremoniously got rid of them right after we got married. I told him that I was going to wear them the night of the wedding (but obviously didn't)

They were drawstring, size XL with enormous pink Hawaiian flowers on them. I usually wear a size S or M in pajama pants...so, yeah. They were terrible.

I just convinced him to throw out this horrendous Cure shirt that he owns. It's gross. It's thick and Robert Smith's face is painted across the front and the paint is thick and he wears it to bed all the time. I hate it. I wouldn't throw it out without his permission though.

As for buying something he didn't like...it depends on what it is and why he doesn't like it. He hates this pink pair of Converse of mine, but that hasn't stopped me from scouring the internet for another pair of them (I got them years ago, throwback-style, can't find them anywhere and mine are really worn out)...but if it's like 'hey, this laptop is crap, you can really do a lot better with something else', then I'd take his opinion and roll with it.

agreed. if it was just for me then no i wouldnt get rid of or not buy something just bc he didnt like it. if it was for both of us then I would.

No I won't throw out something if he hates it.

As for buying something, it depends on what it is. If it's a piece of clothing, it depends on why he doesn't like it.

DH hates hoop earrings.

I think it's because I didn't wear earrings for a long time since the piercings had closed up and he's just not used to them.

I own several pairs of hoops and wear them anyway even though he pokes fun at me everytime.

So in short, nope, I wouldn't throw out something DH doesn't like.

ETA: As for buying something, it depends on what it is.

Something for both of us, I probably won't buy it unless he likes it, too. Something just for me, I probably won't even ask his opinion until it's already bought, tags ripped off and everything. But if we shop together, which doesn't happen often, I value his opinion- like I was gonna buy these jeans a few weeks ago and he just said they didn't do anything for me, so I didn't buy them.

i have a romper outfit thing that i first put on and DH actually laughed at me and was like your not really wearing that...and i was like yeah!!!!
so i changed!

a week later im like f it im wearing it i like it!!!! and im like i dont care what you think im wearing it!!! and then later on he actually admitted it looked better this time around! LOL

but i would never throw it out just cuz he didnt like it!

i say 70% of things i own he hates

he has learned to live with it
