How much does it cost to change your name on your drivers license? Some asked me at work.

to only change a name - in NJ - nothing. I switched states though - from NY to NJ and that's the only reason it cost me $40.00.

I did not change my name after getting married but I did change my address a few years ago and if I recall correctly, it does not cost anything to make the change in the database. The cost comes from actually getting them to print a new license for you. I remember just clicking a button that said that I did not need a new license printed until my old one expired and it was free.
