Re: Quit Smoking
Thank you ladies!!!! i am going to need all the luck i can get, i stupidly started smoking VERY young so i have been smoking for about 15 years +...
Dh started to quit after his thin, fit uncle had a heart attack at age 47....
the cardiologist said no more than 3 cigarettes a day...maybe try to cut it down to that...morning, afternoon and evening...and then you will be ready to go completely off...
plus...think about how many packs the 2 of you smoked a week and every week put the $ value in a jar...and save for something special...

Re: Quit Smoking
I smoked all through college and on and off in law school. I once saw a picture hanging up in the health services office at the college I went to that showed a picture of what a pretty young woman would look like if the smoke damage to her lungs was visible on her skin - it was very disturbing. When I have the urge to smoke, I envision that picture. It actually keeps me from finishing an entire cigarette on the odd occasion that I find one in my hand.
Maybe you can find your own image on the internet that can serve as motivation to NOT have a cigarette. Also, get yourself some tic tacs Good luck!

Re: Quit Smoking
Mark quit a few months ago, adn a friend of mine quit a few years ago. What both of them did to avoid gaining weight was exercise. They both had good success with it, actually both lost weight. Also, they said that exercising helped to keep them off of the cigarettes as well. Hope this helps. If you find anything else that works let me know, I promised to quit after the wedding which is 12/15-- getting close

Re: Quit Smoking
I never smoked in my life. I do not know it was neve something that I found attractive. I have to rationalize it like this, anything that is going to take my money and I have nothing to show for it, is not worth it. All the best to you and your hubby on your road to quitting. There is a guy here in my office who just started, he is doing well, he is wearing one of those patches. Get candy or gum and try your darndest.
Here are so me quit now vibes for both of you

Re: Quit Smoking
Good luck! I had quit for 7 years and about 3 months before I met my husband, I started again. And since he smoked, I didn't quit again until this past summer (right before I found out I was pg). I was more a 'social, have the drink in one hand, the cigarette in the other' and the 'stress' smoker -- I knew I would quit, it was a matter of putting my foot down. Once I quit, I never look back.
Good luck, you can do it!

Re: Quit Smoking
I quit smoking on August 20 2002...................Did I try before yes but it didn't work. The second I saw the positive pregnancy result I knew it was time. Was it easy? Easier than it was the other times that I had tried. I was a 15 year smoker. Thank god baby was just 2 weeks when I quit, but what if you don't find out till you a month or more. My dh husband still smokes and he promises to quit before the baby is born. Now he goes on porch to smoke. Do I miss it? Yes, sometimes. Will I go back in 6 months? I hope not.
